Hi again, pardon me for asking a dumb question; I'm totally new in this.

I'm planning to have my name card printed but I'm totally clueless on how to go about doing it without a template ... I'm quite keen to come up with the artwork.

Any suggestions? TIA! ;)

if you going to do your own layout, then check out other people's cards (assuming you have a collection of other people's card) and pick the one that appeals most. some cards are very elegant, and some are downright biang.

try the store in the basement of Sim Lim. They have good packages available, and templates to help you design.

design one with a unique shape??

or get your students to help?

:)

http://www.namecardonline.com I use this Singapore company and have always been very happy with quality and service. It's great to design your own card from their templates, tweak the design online and then get the cards delivered to your door. Much easier than going to BBC.

well.. very simple.

use photoshop. work with an average sizes of name cards..den u can design lo...

illustrator also can do. photoshop also can do.

of u can get a designer to do it for u.....

cs got ALOT of designers lurking around la... hahaha...

i tink it would be a better idea to design one on ya own...makes it all the more special rather than just a template ya...:D

your namecard is very important in getting you remembered and called upon
do it well

templates will make your namecard look like everyone elses and will not be remembered
go to page one or basheer books and look for a book on business card design.

btw don't use photoshop to do the artwork for your namecard.
the results will not be as sharp

as long as it is 300dpi, i don't see any reason why you can't use photoshop.

Try Avery DesignPRO and some of their customisable business templates. Print out some on your own printer using their Business Card forms. They have a free software download on... http://www.avery.com/brc/index.html

true. but printing do not need 300dpi btw. even i print AO, doesnt even need 300dpi. i would just hit 120 and it will still print fine.

Photoshop is good is you want to include photoimages into your namecards.

If not, in a designer's point of view. Illustrator will get the job done nice and professionally.

images are raster while illustrator is vector
guess which one will be sharper?
