no worries, thanks for the reply, when i get mine. i will update the serial number ...and see if the tamron affects the battery for 6D

Hi Guys,

Planing to get Canon 6D & Tamron 24-70 VC next week, saw this article ...
Tamron 24-70 users please read: Canon EOS-1D / 5D / 6D Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

1) Anyone here kena?

2) this article was reported about 2 months back, you think the current shippment is "safe" ???

lol. I kena. Posted this issue on the 6d thread. My lens now at the service centre. Tamron said they never encounter such issue here before but will look into it. Was sent in on 8 Feb. They told me that they will get back to me in abt 5 working days. So should be next 2 days i hope.

Bought the lens around 24 Jan from SLR Revo. So i guess there are still some risk around town. My serial no. 015XXX. Not listed on the dpreview forum but still kena the lottery. what to do...

Hi Freebird75,

thanks for your reply, potential Tamron 24-70 F2.8 lens buyers would be grateful to your comments ...do keep us updated on the status of the repair ..
i'm planning to go on a Bali trip in march second week....so i dun think i have much time to wait for the march-april shippment...
so gotta keep fingers cross and get one...

Most welcome, Ricardo. :)

Anyway, the service centre got back to me a moment ago. My lens ready for collection. Told me what they did was to upgrade the firmware. I can only go down to collect it a few days later so will update again on whether the problem is solved.

Hi freebird75,

That is great news! :D just wondering does anyone here know how to check the "FIRMWARE" on the lens ?

sorry to interrupt, but what is the typical turnaround time at the tamron service centre @ changi?

i'm loving the lens thus far (colour, sharpness, VC), but had an unfortunate accident, it fell from chair level onto a carpeted floor (mounted on d600+grip+sb910.. was a rather heavy set up) and I think the lens took some of the impact.

No scratches, VC still works, but the barrel wobbles now (previously it was solid, without any play)

sigh I wonder how much would the repair cost? (since its not manufacturing defect)

hope there's no misalignment.

Sorry to hear about that. I was told by the lady at the counter that they will get back to me around 5 working days when i send in mine for servicing. true enough, i received a call on the 5th day.

Hi guys, just got my lens back from the service centre this morning. Had the lens attached to my 6d once i received it. Battery was at 78% and remained so until 7pm when i last check. so I guess problem solved.

update for my repair.

they have emailed me that my lens needs to be sent to japan (which will take 4-5 weeks)

"Repair charges depend on spare part replacement after check by factory side" (in Japan)

"So it will only be possible to have a quotation after it has been sent to Japan?
Once it is in Japan I have to commit to the repair cost?"

"Hi
If mishandling by user, final repair charges after check by Tamron Japan which spare part need for replacement, if cancel for repair after get quotation need to pay air freight about sgd 100 ( both way), base on lens which had sent back before repair charges from sgd 250."

I've already told them to send to Japan... and praying that it doesn't cost a bomb.

Anybody knows what the total cost might amount to...?

Forbidden City, Beijing...
Gate of Heavenly Purity (Qianqingmen), Also named Gate of Celestial Purity or Qianqingmen, it is on the central axis divides the Forbidden City into two parts, the Outer Court and the Inner Court, therefore, serving as the main entrance to the imperial household. In front of it there squats a pair of glided bronze lions guarding it. As is known, the Forbidden City holds numerous bronze lions, but the ones in front of this gate are somehow different. Sharp eyes will spot that the ears of these two lions are flipperty-flopperty while other lion statues inside the Forbidden City with their ears perked up. The experts in the Palace Museum stated that in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) the imperial family deterred the courtiers' entrance into the inner court and vice versa (prohibiting women's interference into state affairs). These two lions with flipperty-flopperty ears alarm the Inner Court concubines and court ladies that they'd better care about the government affairs in the Outer Court as little as possible.

Palace of Heavenly Purity (Qianqinggong)
Inside Gate of the Heavenly Purity (Qianqingmen), you will see it (Qianqinggong or Palace of Celestial Purity). In the centre, the throne is on a raised dais, surrounded by cloisonne incense burners, long red candles, and large mirrors, which were placed beside the throne to ward off evil spirits. On the surrounding columns, there are two pairs of couplets written by Qing emperors. Over the throne hangs a plaque engraved with four Chinese characters, written by Emperor Yongzheng and which mean 'Justice and Brightness.' From the time of Emperor Yongzheng, the name of each crown prince would be written on duplicate documents and a copy would be placed in a box behind this plaque.

invest in Lee filter

Lee filter is not "budget one".

Who bought Lee filters for this lens? How many stops did you buy? I have the 0.6 for 77mm & intend to buy the 0.9 for this lens..any feedback?
