I guess its time to take a walk to MS Colour to check this lens out! ;p
Sorry to bring up this thread, read all the post and almost all are comparing to Canon lens instead.
How about this tamron compared to nikon 70-300mm VR ?
Thanks
spinworkxroy said:Read the May issue of Practical Photography from newsstands. They tested 5 different 70-300 lenses in the "budget" category.
In terms of VC/IS, the tampon came out best.
In terms of IQ, the Nikon came out best…
Overall, they chose the Nikon…
But this is only for Nikon usersCanon users will either have to buy the 70-300L or just get the Tamron...
the image looks blur. The issue may not be the IQ of the lens.
the shutter speed maybe too slow, because you apeture is small @ f/11.
can you provide the info of iso and shutter speed. is the vc on or off?
ISO400, VC ON, 300mm, 1/5 shutter.
That's one problem with this lens using it at A/V mode doesn't really work indoors at all.
I know i'll need at least a 1/200 shutter speed at 300mm but i also need to shoot F11 at 300mm to get a "sweeter" spot, but being indoors, i can't get 1/200 shutter without having ISO1600 which becomes grainy and pointless. I can't shoot at f5.6 at 300mm, it would just be too soft and horrible.
Here's another one outdoors with a faster shutter at 1/125, still not ideal but it's already outdoors and with ISO400, i just find to have to shoot at f8-11 is quite hard unless you're under direct sunlight! I'm still "experimenting" with this lens am still not confident with it when i do need a telephoto to shoot stuff i'd still rather shoot with my 24-105 and then crop it if i have to shoot tele

Yes I agree, the center of the picture is not as sharp as it should be. It is just slightly off, but a slight off means a lot @ 300mm. I would suggest that you first do a focus checking test before sending down to the service center. So that they can have a clear picture of the problem. It will also let you know if just need some cam-to-lens tuning or a case of a lemon.

please remember to mount on a tripod, turn off VC, spot AF in the center, 2 sec delay, and if room is not bright, use mirror lock up to eliminate blur-ness due to camera shake.
