for price look in the price guides

btw nice autumn shots

the picture of the icicles seems to be the only one that's fuzzy. the others at 270mm with the same aperture a sharp. why? does this happen all the time under certain conditions? if so, what conditions? also if you use the vibration lock why would you need to use a tripod? i'm thinking of buying this lens but i sure don't want to carry a tripod. i feel like the purpose of a lens like this is to travel light.

if you notice the icicles shot is not fuzzy, it is the shallow DOF, look at the icicles in the centre of the frame, this shot was to test the "macro" capability at maximum zoom

i did not test the VC, sorry i am old school

Hi Ortega,

This was really useful.

Just one thing. I am looking at getting a 70-300mm lens. I already own a 18-70 sony kit lens, which i am thinking of trading for a Tamron 17-50.

This is my question, WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER GETTING?? man there are soo many options.

Would I be better of just getting the Tamron 18-270? Or my comb, of the Tamron 17-50 and the Sony 70-300G lens, is still sensible?

much appreciation in advance.

the 2 different setups are for different situations
so it is entirely up to you.

i feel that the all-in-one lens such as this lens is great when you want to travel with less equipment, eg hiking, holidays, mountain climbing ... ...

btw you know you can edit your post if you made a mistake

anyone knows whats the current cheapest price for this lens? is it compatible with nikon D5000?

I need some advise from follower users of the Tamron 18-270mm lens.......

Is this normal :

1. when I zoom at about 50mm, it will become a bit stiffer, turn the zoom a bit more it become smooth again.
2. when the lens is point up, it is very difficult to zoom in eg. 270mm (the zoom ring is very stiff),but easy to zoom out eg. 18mm.
3. the reverse when the lens is pointing downwards.

Can any user please advise me whether this is the characteristics of the lens?

T h a n k y o u !!!

I think its normal. Gravity is doing the work. Anyway its common that lens like this will zoom creep.

Thanks for your reply.

May I know what is zoom creep ?

When you are not zooming, but lens auto zoom/lengthen due to you pointing the lens downwards. Anyway there is a zoom lock for this lens for you to use when you don't want it to creep at 18mm. Basically just for storage purpose since you don't want it to auto zoom in an out when you place it inside the bag.

Hi, all masters

May i ask how to verify lens sharpness without sending back agent for checking? currently pairing 450D+with this lens.. not too sure cos it seems veru difficult for me to get good sharp photos across most zoom range..
brought new on both..

i may up post if requires...

thanks

Check tHru the price guide it didn't said the price. How much u guys paid for? Is it worth buying this over a standard macro lens since this has macro as well pls advice

anyone has compared this to the nikon 70-300mm VR?

currently using tamron 17-50 and looking to buy a superzoom and caught in between the Nikon 70-300mm VR and Tamron 18-270mm...

likes about the tamron is the 15X zoom, but Nikon is F5.6 at 300mm...
