Whats the best deal for Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II Lens non VC?

Hi,

Would like some advice from the any bros who have experience with both the Nikon 16-85mm and the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC.

Is the low light performance of the Tamron alot better than the Nikon that it would justify me getting it to complement my 16-85 in low light/night time situations?

Most of the time I use the 16-85 for street shooting/landscape while travelling.

Also any idea of the low light performance between the nikon 50mm f1.4 and the Tamron?

For buying in JB, the warranty is only for 1 year international warranty.
I am now considering to buy in JB also.
For the manufacturing place, I think they are from the same source one.

Tamron only have lens assembly factories in japan.

I just got the last piece (that's what I was told) Nikon mount of the 17-50, non-VC from MS yesterday.
The zoom ring was very tight, but ok. Last night, I was able to shoot at F2.8, 1/50, with ISO200!!

The Tokina 16-50mm f/2.8 is more expensive and has some CA issues.

Anyways, I'm getting two 17-50 today :lovegrin:. Since I read through. This will be a good investment. But its non-VC since its for Pentax mount.

Anyone using canon mount VC and faces error messages on the lcd screen? And after you switch on and off your cam then it's back to normal.

it happened on my d90 also, twice, last time it happened because it didn't mount on it probably, so do check it if the error happens
