My friend help me to get the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC from Hong Kong last week when he was there.
Paid less then $800 SGD for it. Come with one year international warranty.

Bro,

I check from internet source. it said only HK3820 dollar ? Not true ?

My fren just got it from HK weeks ago... got it at around SGD 600 for a Tamron 17-50 VC... based on the current exchage rate of SGD1 : HKD5.47

The VC does hunt in low light situation. I have been using mine since last Dec 2009. I was actually going for the Nikon 17-55 but the price doesnt justify the performance. You are paying more than twice the price of the VC but the performance is not even twice.. only slightly better. How often do you shoot in low light conditions? like shooting inside a dark room? What are you planning shoot in those places? Anyway, the reason not to get this lens is if you don't need the VC feature. Another reason could be the size as it's bigger compared to the non vc version.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase. Since I dont bring a tripod everytime i go out shooting, the VC helps if I need a slow shutter speed. If I need more light then I use my eternal flash. Evaluate your shooting style and just buy based on what you might need. At the end of the day, what works for me might not work for you.

Happy shooting!

cldu share the name of the shop in HK? PM pls thanks.

Hi all,

I would like to ask all, for a lens without warranty, may i know how much is it to calibrate the back focusing problem ?
Also how long would it take.

Many thanks.

i did some testings and research too, and i think the non vc version is just as good. if theres a longer focal length, then the vc will come in more handy. so for 17-50mm, non vc is good enought, no need waste money and get the vc one.

Loving my non-VC version!

For those who have the newer VC version, is the AF ring decoupled from the motor? or does it still move when the lens focus as with the non-VC's?
