Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC

I juz got this lens over the weekend and i noticed that when the VC is on, the viewfinder kindda shakes when lens focuses and it's noisy as if the glass piece inside has come loose. I did highlighted this to the sales person and he said is like that.

My nikon kit lens have no shakes or noise issue at all. so am wondering if this is common or usual for this lens.

For all those lens with IS, VR, OS or wat even to do with 'antishake' will have this shake inside the viewfinder... its normal...

wah.. also tempted to get the VC version.

But guys, read thu the whole thread, there was something mentioned about getting a good set when buying from the shops.

How exactly do we determine that it a good set ?

Do we ask the salesguy to take down a few to choose ?
based on what we determine good and not so good copy ?

anyone has the latest price for this babe?

why no one here consider sigma version ?
they have USM.

A gd set wd mean tact sharp focusing with your cam body. If there are signs of BF or FF then better ask for another lens until you find one thats AF right. Can use objects like a calculator, ruler, or even the focus test chart from Tim Jackson to test but be careful not to freak the salesman out.

There is also a thread on this BF & FF testing here

Just got my lens from Alan Photo, funan IT mall. Originally was $950 with GST but since I paid with nets, I had to pay 1% more which was fine with me. ;p

Just one question: I only received 1 piece of warranty card. Is there supposed to be 2 warranty cards so that I can fill up one card and send it back to the distributor?

Most of the photos were super vibrant because I used Ken rockwell's vivid setting for D90.

hey all. still wondering whether to get the vc or non vc version for this lens. been reading around the threads in the forum but want to hear some views from those who have owned both lenses. is vc really needed at such short focal lengths?

what is the price diff btw a vc and the non vc?
anyone?

Just asking, Does it work good on a 450D ? hahaha :D

vc necessary for such a short focal length?

it depends on the user... if u can afford it... why not...? Tamron's VC is quite good, up to 4 stops compensation. as long as u don't start wondering why u didn't get the vc / non-vc one instead! haha.

Hi all, just some shots to show the VC really works great..

Pictures taken hand-held straight out of the camera, just RAW convert to JPEG..

Hi all, been using this beauty lens for 3 months or so...

Recently noticed there's some ghosting and back focusing issues, will calibrating fix these problems?

If so who to contact and where to send it for calibration? Thanks ;)

I just get VC version. After use for 1weeks, sometime my camera unable focus and come out error message. Anyone face this problem before? After on and off few time, the camera back to normal.

check if you turn and lock the lens properly to ur cam body.

another problem i encounter is that when i shoot halfway, i too gan chiong, accidentally push the AF to MF when is push the shutter buttow. it gives me the same error wahhaa
