P.S. the photo..... than no need to use any "L" lenses.

I've learnt, after shooting a few major church events (like many-day conferences), that sometimes even PS is a pain to use. We're talking about photos in 700s and 800s. Really, a pain. :bheart:

Generally my 50/1.8 delivers la. Occasionally the kit lens will cause me some problems in low light, so those are the pics that need PP-ing. Thank Canon for good noise handling and reduction at high ISOs :bsmilie:

wee just gotmine hehe... still getting use to it . prviously using e kit lens :p

hot can see the diff when i tes it soon :)

Its a great piece of glass! IMHO would be comparable to my canon 17-40L but almost half the price? (should have come out earlier)

Pictures are sharp and focusing in low light is fast (unlike my previous 28-75mm). Only downside is that it is VERY noisy.

Of course if you have the moolah, go for the canon 17-55mm IS which I think is another superb lens. Only setback is the high cost of this baby.

Wow... so many bought it. Just got my copy yesterday too.

As I am in Taiwan now, saw this len cost < $600SGD.

Only taiwan warranty only. Not sure if I should buy this?

Of course. Kit lens optical quality cannot compare to this la. This has been compared to 17-40L even.

Around 12200TWD - 14000TWD.
Do you know where to go in Taiwan?

There is a street full of camera shops.

my copy is sharper than my nikon 50mm 1.8 at f2.8!!:) this IS a good lens luckily i had several copies to test at the shop took teh best wide open one.

Hi, if I went into a shop and picked up this particular lense, what are the chances of me getting a decent copy? I'm not very good at picking out lenses even if I had all the copies laid out for me to choose.

If you guys do recommend to try all the copies, what are some quick methods to test it out? Is it recommended to bring a laptop there to check the pictures out? Will shop owners get pissed at you for doing all these things?

which shop that that sells the cheapest for this lens(tamron 17-50 f2.8)? would like to get one too.

any good leads?

thanks in advance.

No need to bring laptop lah, just test the range from 17mm to 50mm at f2.8 magnify the
shorts to 10 times in your cam lcd and you can see the sharpness. Not every copy is the same, but most have the same sharpness at the center. The diff is at the corner side, so
look out for those sharper corner copy.
