Does anyone have experience regarding the focusing speed of the Tamron vs the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8?

Which is faster and hunts less?

had handled the sigma and tamron models yesterday at John 316, i would say, the sigma is marginally faster than tamron but again. the 'marginally faster' is in a matter of miliseconds.. for the fact that there is no HSM in this sigma model.. :dunno:

oh yes, the tamron is quite noisy compared to the sigma. build wise, the tamron feels more plasticey than the sigma which has a more rubbery feeling to it. :think:

price wise, it is 600+ vs 700+ (tamron vs sigma)
finally, if you like warm colours, get the sigma

Tamron 17-50mm lens is so high in demand nowadays that the quality control has become a question. I have received some units with obvious white dust inside recently, and have to return to Tamron for an exchange.

So, when choosing your lens, check carefully.

U are right on that.
I bought my lens and when got home then realised that there is 2 white dust in it
Luckily MS color allow me to exchange but have to wait for 3 weeks

Still waiting .........
