that's great but not surprising as it should be able to give you a quality shot like that. what i mean is you should get what you pay for. since the specs are pro-end, it should give pro-end results despite the price.

not to pour cold water or anything, it will be more accurate to see a 100% crop of the critical focusing point (the child's eye) in order to assess the lens fully.

i am waiting for the tamron version to make a comparison before deciding. no hurry but tamron seems to be in no hurry to release the nikon version yet. :dunno: i wonder why?

I bought the last piece of the nikon mount lens today from TK Photo. price 680$

Did some quick checks in shop. Focussing a little bit slower than my Nikon 50mm f1.4 AFD. Nothing significant though. Zoom ring is a bit stiff. Again not enough to be an issue.

Will try to post more sample images later this week.

i tested a canon mount today. i found it quite nosy like the gear rubbing againist each other. when try mf, still very stiff. did not like it so did not buy it.

I have the nikon mount. I agree that its doesnt have the SWM effect but its hardly noisy. Since the zoom range is pretty limited, even if u focus from close to infinity there is hardly much movement. I find the focusing very fast. First sound I notice is the beep of focus locking on. I paid attention to the other 'lens' sound only now that you have mentioned it here. For me its not a problem at all.

I only did a small office shoot with it. Am pretty happy with the results.

Is the Tamron SP 17-50mm F2.8 lens you guys are getting are made in Japan or Made in China? I noticed that the early batch is made in Japan, and now the new stock are made in China (or assembled in china)
