alright guys.. i'm getting interested in strobing. will be getting a setup within the next few days... pray tell me a one-light setup is generally enough for most outdoor work (since there's another free giant strobe called the sun)?

For me 1 is enough. Not because of the sun, but because having 2 strobe means 2 extra lightstand and maybe 2 extra brolly, and a bigger bag which means more stuff to carry and needs more time to setup. Granted the sun is not always available and the intensity always vary, but another thing to consider is reflector, my favorite coroplast or a white wall, etc etc. I also considered that the 2nd strobe will most probably be used 50% compared to the 1st strobe so I save it for lens instead.

Yeah.. try the strobist group in flickr. Singapore strobist doesn't seem very active.

camera and off camera flash. For me, its more for equipment testing.

Don't need to be a big group, 3-4 people will be great but we do need a subject/model to
shoot (if someone who can volunteer).

I'm game! I was thinking of 2 places to go, first is youth park to strobe people doing skateboard stunts, second is the underpass going to esplanade where many youngsters go to practice their street dance routines. Your LX3 will be perfect for stunt stuff. I'll be bringing my GRD

u can use a monophone splitter on ur pw so u can trigger 2 flash with 1 pw.

IIRC total is around $32+- including shipping. Each color gel has 5 pieces in each pack, so you can actually share with friends or something.
