S'pore Strobists?

But why do you want to use big aperture, unless you are shooting some artistic closeup shot that requires shallow DoF.

Yes, of course the best are studio strobes with modelling light.

ya true.. most of the time i won't want to shoot at large aperture... will try this method

actually nikon cameras have an advantage here.. they comes with IR AF assist... i really hope canon wake up their idea..

u still can do it without missing the focus...

compose everything already, get your focus where you want it to be then hold and off the torch and snap.

or you can always get someone to assist, anyway i don't think you'll be shooting in total darkness right?

ok will try that.. tks alot

.. yes so far no shoots done in complete darkness...

I bought a small 30ish bulb LED lamp for various purposes, including AF assist.

It also helps put out light for models doing makeup while shooting in less-than-ideal and dark outdoor places, provide baggage area light for easy (and safer) equipment retrieval, and of most recent - being a spare light for my bbq pit when the lamp actually fused (lol).

I actually use it for anything other than lighting the models for photos itself. I'm just spoiled by the quality of light strobes produce.
Nevertheless, it serves much purpose and takes up minimal bag space. 4 eneloops power it for at least 1 1/2hours before it starts dimming bit by bit, possibly to 3hours.

If you intend to do shoots in complete darkness without a nearby power source nor nearby lighting, LEDs are a true lifesaver. DIY a frosted cap or simply shoot it off at a large-ish white paper or wall and everyone will get some light,

hi tks alot...

i think i must consider your suggestion... so u light the model using the LEDs and shoot with the strobe without switching off the LEDs? i guess there won't be color cast (LEDs color temp is same as strobe right?)? Will the face appear brighter due to the additional light cast by the LEDs?
