Hi, I'm still in the midst of upgrading to a DSLR but I'm keen on joining in any meetups and learning more about strobing techniques and easy portable soft lighting?

Btw think the last date and time mentioned was 11th October from 3pm to 6pm. Venue still undecided though most were asking for a quiet coffeeshop. If all of us are driving can I suggest someplace around Bukit Timah? There should be plently of parking there.

i would like to hold it in a community centre room where it is air conditioned and u dont have to worry abt ambient light first. got toilet and amenities as well. but dunno wats the rates.

Pardon my asking but will this be a simple gathering cum TCS session, or there be a presentation and demo? If the latter then I think community center would be the better venue, if the former then I was going to suggest someplace like Coffee Bean @ Forum Galleria, Highlander Coffee (along main road opp SGH) or Geek Terminal (Raffles Place).

Note I'm not trying to be the organiser or head honcho here, just suggesting a venue for everyone to relax, unwind and enjoy each other's company.

What do you have? I will bring my D70+SB800. I guess for now we just play around and chat a bit? And from here, maybe we can have some ideas we can followup next time? As for light modifier, I also have the "no-brand" whaletail and something that looks like a showercap so you guys can play around and decide if you plan to buy or if its just plain rubbish.

What type of umbrella? I have silver grain reflective and shootthru softbox umbrella. Let me know if you also wanna try it, then I can bring. I also have problem with the angle on shootthru.. maybe I'm doing it wrong but I can't seem to face it towards the floor because the outer rim of the umbrella is hitting the lightstand.
