Sony is very slow with introducing firmware/software (if they ever appear). Thus, I won't put too much hope for the firmware to appear soon.
The IQ of the 24-70F4 with the high price currently does not create enough "kick" to buy - for me. So I am using the small and petite Sony pancake zoom Nex E mount 16-50mm for cropped mode. Not perfect, but with the super cheap price of less than $200 and size that I can keep in my pocket, it is quite good enough for me, as a backup travel lens, since I use my 55FE as a permanent lens most of the time.
I am using A7R, so the cropped file size is around 15mpx, good enough. With the cropped mode, the 16-50mm becomes 24-75mm effectively.
The price of this petite pancake zoom is around 8-10x cheaper than 24-70F4, but it is probably not 8x worse in IQ.
