Sony Zeiss FE24-70/F

It's sad that the latest Adobe Raw version that was just released today...has a whole load of Sony lens profiles...but still nothing for this lens..
Well, it didn't have for the old tele sony lenses either...
Looks like Sony is doing it again...not giving support :(

for the meantime manual correction (eyeballing) :-(

anyone tested the Canon 17-35 f2.8 on A7/r? I've looked at the three reviews (17-40, 16-35) this les has the lowest distortion @ 17mm... maybe this will be alternative lens until FE UWA comes out. I read also Minolta 17-35 seems ok lens...

Eh....i edited my post too slow haha..
The official listings do not show this lens BUT when i opened a RAW file in ACR, there was a NEW section called Sony FE and this lens profile WAS inside.

I have seen people witht he Canon 17-40 and it works really nicely..too bad i sold mine..regretted it..
I've since bought the samyang 14mm but i do miss the zoom..14mm sometimes is just too wide.
hmmm, minolta 17-35...looks like a cheap alternative until an FE version is out...

Here's some quick snap using this lens all taken wide open 24mm Sorry no composition here just random shots inside the shop

And the below is taken by SEL16-70CZ crop mode @ 16mm f4

I personal think the 16-70CZ performs better than 24-70/4

Yodabashi i love it... Play with many camera & lenses as well as looking for cheap omega watches compared to spore prices.

I am no pro like u bros so pics look pretty much the same to me whether using 24-70, 28-70 or cv 35 1.2 but i did particular like 2 shots I taken with rx1 previously

was looking at the 3 canon UWA zoom and it seem the older one 17-35 was the one with lowest distortion at 17mm compare that to 16-35 and 17-40. But 17-35 not the sharpest among the three

don't tell me you're also at Osaka? this was taken at Yodobashi Osaka/Umeda Stn hehehe. Yeah they have a wide range of watches same floor as the cameras. Man I was drooling when I go around the shop they have almost everything under one roof (except of nice sales lady)

Yeah I agree with your observation I really wanted to test out CZ2470 as I find the focal range good for travel but with the price tag I was expecting something like FE55 IQ but it didn't like you said 2870 seems to perform as well as 2470.. Even the SEL1670 look good to me the distortion was not so obvious also.

I also look at the CV/CZ ad Leica section I was drooling like a hungry and thirsty mutt :)

I went to several yodobashis in tokyo in early feb 14.. My fav is in akibahara as that outlet is huge compared to the others in tokyo. Was looking for the voightlander close focus adapter but no stock.

Watches in japan can be priced 3k-4k cheaper & they also have a lot of mint condition 2nd hand watches so good place to find watch as well

I experience the worst snow in tokyo in 40yrs when i was there..was surprise when the news reported this at night cos in the day time i busy playing with snow and taking photos...finally appreciate the importance of weather sealing

Hey johnbon lol i was there in early feb too haha, snow was unforgiving!! worst snowfall in 45 years in the kanto region.A little heavier in Yokohama. Should have stayed a little longer for cp+ but oh well. Did u manage to stay till cp+?
Yodobashi everywhere looks pretty much the same but my favorite one is the akiba outlet too. The akiba and shinjuku outlet usually has the strongest inventory in tokyo. So usually i just head down to the one in akihabara.

Alberti, u should definitely go tokyo if time permits, just more to do there overall. oh yea speaking of the sel1670za, the initial batch of sel1670 was plagued by alignment issues. I'm not sure if they have fixed it yet though. I would love to try the canon 1740 f4. In this review , many shots were taken raw unedited with the 1740 alongside the fe55 and i love what i see. Will be on the big side with the metabones adapter connected though.

yeah actually I like Tokyo most of my trip in Japan are in Tokyo this is only the 2nd time I have been assigned to Osaka hehe... Maybe next travel will schedule a trip there for sure.

SEL1670ZA that I tried I did only check the distortion and sharpness didn't noticed or pay attention to the alignment... but I must say it perform better then 2470. For now I am looking for alternative uwa zoom for travels.

My friend flying to US that's transiting at Tokyo Sat got postponed the following day. That's how bad the snow is.

Tatz d point we r all trying to make. In economic term, it serves very low marginal utility.

I agree. It's a bit disturbing to see a manufacturer cutting costs by producing subpar optics that require software correction to produce usable photos.

And even more disturbing when it's charging premium prices for it. Think most people aren't cheapskates , but really just wish to have their monies worth.

One of the reasons why old glasses are so much in demand is the joy of just getting an adapter and being able to use it on your current cameras , can u imagine being unable to use your precious glass if one day the company decides not to produce any software updates for it in the newer bodies as the glass were subpar to start with?

Yea saturday was the day the snow hit the hardest and it peaked at afternoon. All the rescheduled flights snowballed to the day of my flight back and the airport was like I.T fair haha. I think ur postponed flight pushed to the day i was departing =)

@alberti This was why flights , bullet trains were cancelled. here's a quick snapshot i took with the nex7, sorry about the poor IQ [lousy compression].

Alright back to the topic of the lens. I do feel insecure about the fact that modern-day camera bodies getting obselete easily once makers stop making firmwares for them to understand the newer software orientated lenses. Especially those with hybrid AF and not receiving updates to allow the new lenses to work with them.

last time I was in Tokyo that snowed was around 2009/2010 I think they said 1st tim in 10 years now 1st time in 40 plus years that they had such amount of snow.

Yeah back to the topic heheha sorry we kinda OT a bit :-)

2470 lens is not all bad lens just that for its price tag its too much for me I cant bear to spend that amount of money for a product that I feel should be a little bit more better than the inferior or cheaper siblings

sony centre imm mounted a7r test model with Zeiss 24-70/2.8

anybody know how this lens perform with a7r? AF still quite good and weight stil ok.but sales guy say with the ea4 adapter the lens no more 2.8. he say 1 full stop slower.
