Sony RX1 Hands-On Test (With Cats!) - YouTube
Check out video at 8.52 mins,d600 vs rx1 iq.. Damn the level of detail is quite noticeable

Nice review but pretty pointless shooting mostly his cat without at least one bookshelf.
Not sure about the details. I mean at that distance I've seen photos from cats taken with an OMD and a 45mm lens that looked at least as detailed as the RX1.
Seems to be as annoying as the X100 that you constantly have to engage and disengage macro mode even at portrait distance.
Anyway, great still life camera!

Compared to d600 the rx1 details is noticeable more define. Similar to what you Steve huff mentioned when both of them compared rx1 iq with other ff cameras

Anyway bros that venture to jb regularly their selling price is more line with US price (less than RM 9k) provided you can find one

Agree but nothing can save a pair of shaking hands due to poor shooting postures fundamentally .

Most Singaporean males should at least have the basics down:p

Did some test shots with the RX1 and I agree with most of you that the EVF is a critical accessory to buy to maximize the IQ since it does not have OSS built in and shooting with the EVF will really help to stabilize it and take sharper shots.

This means $3,999 + $629. With a decent half case to complement it (easily scratch with all the sharp corners), you need to have a budget of around $5,000 to make this a complete set (extra battery and to get the travel battery charger since the standard set at $3,999 does not come with desktop charger to charge extra battery - charging the standard battery is via the USB to RX1).

Yup, its roughly a $5000 camera if you add in all the extra bits. Maybe more if you buy the hood. Camera, hood, case, evf, soft release, filter, battery, charger and screen protector.

Look at it from a different angle. Can you find anything else that is equivalent at the moment? No? Well that is why Sony thinks that they can charge a premium and sadly the consumers (even worse, I am one of them) are proving them right. Because right now, the RX1 is still selling very well with most shops still being sold out.

After using the RX1 for some time, I still find that it is a great little camera, it is constantly with me. I do have a comment, the edge of my lens is completely silver now through wear and tear. The camera looks old and used. I absolutely love it.

Oh yes, noticed the really sharp edge of the lens and was guessing that this will be the first to see silver.

Sony is very careful with this product, and is only releasing 1-2 sets per week to the bigger stores, including Sony Stores which normally carry more stocks. Tested a set yesterday which just arrived, and it is the only set there. The inventory is almost zero for this camera, as the weekly stocks will only come in when there's buyers asking about it.

Price stays at $3,999, and no stores dare to reduce it even for regulars. Very strict order from Sony.

Appreciate the superb combination of full frame sensor and a calibrated Zeiss f2 lens. Premium price will stay until Fuji comes out with something better. Maybe the X100S.

X100s ain't full frame. Sadly. But d innovation on d MF features n AF speed is welcome. Set d benchmark.

For those that have gotten the RX-1, are you using any half-cases?

Does it improve the grip significantly? Tempted to get one.

Just to share with the rest, just saw Steven Huff review on the gariz case
The Gariz Design Sony RX1 Case and Strap Review (video) | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS

I will feel the RX-1 is naked without the half-case. Personally, I feel it improves the grip. A pity I cannot have the thumbs-up together with the EVF.

My set-up as shown in the picture.

Lovely! Is that the original lens hood?

The EVF looks lovely! ;)

Yes, got the original. If you intend to get the original lens hood and install a filter, please check your filter. In my case, my B+W ultra slim filter is too wide and will not allow the hood to be mounted. Luckily I have another B+W filter from X100 to swop.

The performance is great. It tries to mimic an ovf by showing the viewer a bright view of the scene. So the picture taken may not be what we see in the evf.

of shaking the hands up and down? i suppose so :bsmilie:

Married or attached men should haf more stable hands then. Haha

I feel that the EVF is a "must get" item, and should have been bundled as a standard package with the RX1.

Tested with and without the EVF, and it really helps in doing justice to the RX1 in terms of stable shots and sharp resolution since it helps alot with the stability.

The resolution is better than the EVF of the Nex 7.

Only issue is by having the EVF, it stops your craving to get other accessories such as thumbgrip and the original leather case, as you can't use the other accessories with the EVF attached.

The EVF looks lovely! ;)
