Sony is having the sony days promo where you dont pay gst. Does this apply to the rx1 ??? i guess you would be able to save like 280 sgd ??? Anyone know ?
From what i undestand (from what one shop told me, but they may be wrong) , if that camera is out and if you can buy it by paying full price, yes gst absorption by sony applies. But u cannot hope to save on the gst by pre-ordering or by paying deposit.
But why would you buy direct from sony just to save that $280 when the local shops can sell you cheaper than the recommended retail price?? I hope you are aware the local shops deduct the gst from their own price, not from the retail price. For example, nex6 retail price is $1,399. A local shop was selling it for $1,265 (before this gst promo), but with gst promo, they are selling it for $1,182 ($1,182 + 7% = $1,265).

Pretty good , but sadly it suffers from moire issues like the A99 does, I only wish it had the option of an All-I codec and a flatter profile like Canon C100's "Wide DR" mode (and no moire of course)
But otherwise it's not bad for something so compact

Its only one Smatty Ass making the comments throughout. X-Trans sensor is really good, until it can solve the raw conversion fully, it remains flawed for RAW shooters.
Obviously , the RX1 is causing great discomfort to fanboys ( even sony fanboys alike as their bank account starts to feel the itch to spurt money out lol). Thats why people are trashing it at the moment.
I think the real exciting moment about RX1 is not about the camera, its really about the message Sony is hinting to the market , on the possibilities Sony can deliver in terms of mirrorless and compact cameras.

Where do you get your prices from? It's $449.99 for the EVF and $599.99 for the OVF.

The lens hood comes with an exclusive carrying pouch and it's worth it's $179.99 asking price.Have you seen how much even a lens hood costs for leica?
Point is, Carl Zeiss stuff is not cheap...
