Don't forget the original thumb grip for just $249.99 which comes with a carrying pouch as well and withstands operating temperatures from 0 to 40°C (storage temperatures -20 to +60°C).

I wonder what happens when I switch the RX1 on with the thumb grip attached at -1°C. Will the grip fall to dust?

It will turn into My Little Pony

Some say focus peaking is there, but only in magnified mode in manual focusing. And according to some feedback in Steve Huff's blog, "Someone attending the Sony presentation at B&H in NYC yesterday asked the rep about this; they called an engineer and learned it was a flaw that was to be corrected before retail shipments hit the U.S." - source: New Camera Friday! Sony RX1 arrives! Olympus 60 Macro review soon! More… | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS

Hope that is true, keeping fingers crossed!

yeah..

read under Sony DSC-RX1 specification highlights . Focus peaking to aid manual focus was strike out.

Just saw it. So it seems DPR updated their preview. Maybe Sony changed their mind and removed it completely. Stupid...

Seriously? o_O

There is a bug where focus peaking is not in the 100% view, but works in the focus magnification view. Sony engineers are trying to fix it before shipping

Well, that was a few weeks ago. Now it seems they simply removed it.

Anyway, from the updated preview:
"Autofocus begins to fall over in moderate-to-low light - focus speed drops and the likelihood of it achieving focus plummets. The AF illuminator helps for close-range work but the camera can still take a couple of attempts to find its subject. It's a problem we've encountered with Sony's NEX cameras, so it's a shame to see it here."

Real shame if this is not fixed. Will likely give this a miss afterall.

wow...this chap is already working on the RX1 casing. He is usually quite slow to work on newly launched cameras. The last time he only launched the 5N case 4 months after release.

Seems like the RX1 is getting a lot of respect.
