Take chill pill for what? Don't understand you at all.
Why? Does it mean that if RX1 users are happy with the review, Leica shooters will be sad?
Sorry, i don't get your linear challenge to Thoth

Anyone know if we can use a hot-shoe extension adapter with the RX1? e.g. splitting the sole hot-shoe into 2 hot-shoes, 1 for the EVF, and 1 for wireless trigger?
In an off-camera flash setup... there wouldn't be so much use of an evf bah...
Have la...
#1 cannot frame properly without staring into the eve
#2 might not focus properly with wider aperture without eve
#3 most importantly, i feel like a idiot taking pictures with the camera arms length away, staring into the LCD![]()

What's wrong with shooting via the LCD?
What are you going to shoot with an off-flash setup? Stills? Portraits? In any case, your flash would b on a tripod or ground somewhere, and your camera should ideally be on a tripod too since u would have all the time to compose your shot.
I'm assuming your wouldn't be shooting in bright outdoors, so your #1 isn't really valid. Please also tell me why #2 is as such because both would show the same thing. #3, you kinda insulted all non-evf/ovf pns shooters.
It doesn't matter where my flash will be.. it could be on a tripod, in my left hand, hanging on a tree, or floating in the air... but regardless, it'll still need to be connected to my camera via a wireless trigger, or wired cord yah.. both of which will require 1 hotshoe slot, which is 1 more than 1 can spare, since my one and only hotshoe slot is taken up by the EVF. (unless i use on board flash to activate the remote flash - prefer not to go this route)...
1) Why assume i'm not shooting in bright outdoor? In fact this is the reason i am in need of using flash. As good as the RX1 is in low light, you'll need flash to properly expose both the subject and the background. Esp with the sun behind the subject.
2) If you own a RX1 and the EVF, you'd know that they do not show the same thing. I dont think there is a need to discuss the merit of the EVF here, as there are about 600+ reasons (Slighty less if you are chummy with the shop owner). But at wide aperture (i use f2.0 90% of the time), you simply would have difficulty figuring out quickly if the focus is on the eyes, or the ears - if you are purely staring at the LCD.
3)I kinda apologise if any non EVF or PNS users are offended. But if i feel like a idiot using the RX1 PNS style and that offends PNS people, would PNS people then feel smart if i said i feel like a genius when i use my RX1 PNS style?
No offense, just personally felt the way I felt. My point on bright outdoors is because the issue ppl have with LCDs is visibility when the sun shines on the LCD. If the sun is behind the subject, then you will have no issue, and can mount flash or trigger to expose ur subject properly.
You are right, I do not own the RX1 nor the EVF. I couldn't afford it, but that's besides the point. However, I do not understand why the LCD and evf would show different things. Do tell and share with potential RX1 owners. What is the difference between the preview u see on the LCD compared to the EVF, image-wise? Why is it that you can't focus as well with the LCD compared to the evf? RX1 has peaking, no? 35/2 isn't that shallow DOF compared to e.g. 50/1.4 which I shoot often.
Furthermore, the RX1 is a very specialized camera. With a fixed lens and a form factor like that, you really shouldn't expect to do what it's not expected to do. It appears that you would need a DSLR to suit your shooting needs, not a specialist PNS like the RX1.
I love using the LCD to shoot. Especially waist level shots and different perspectives. No love for non EVF/OVF shooters? LOL
That's why my biggest complain is that the RX1 doesn't have an articulating LCD screen.
Using the EVF is more than just to compensate for visibility during bright conditions. (If that was so, nobody would be using the EVF with low light/night shots?)
Personally I feel the EVF and the LCD differs in the following ways:
1) The EVF shows more "pop", while the LCD looks slightly more flattish. (The image on EVF is closer to the one on my MacBook retina screen)
2) I can frame much quicker using the EVF.
3) Holding the camera closer to the body, in a typical DSLR stance provides more stability.
4) Focusing issue at wide apertures (my nex 7 with 50mm 1.4 lens does not seem to have shallower DOF than the RX1 with 35mm 2.0, could be the sensor difference). With the EVF held up close to the eye, the vision is filled with the image, and nothing more. Although the EVF screen is small, the image size projected to the eye is at the maximum, thus it is vital for determining if focusing is correct. With LCD, unless u zoom in, else it is almost impossible to tell.
5) the silly PNS shooting pose is still a mental block.
Every camera has got it's pros and cons- but I certainly don't think the RX1 is as limited in use as you seem to have the impression... And this is the first time I've seen the term "specialist PNS"... How can a PNS be considered specialised? Anyway, The only PNS characteristic of the RX1 is the size... But it's a little like saying the Porche Boxster is just "small car"...
Anyway, all I want to know is if a hotshoe splitter adapter exists![]()
