Sony DSLT-A77 and 16-50 f/2.8 SSM hands-on review

cant wait for A77.... upgrading my a500 :P

This jpeg problem on pre-production A77 only visible at >ISO1600 rite?
as long as there's enough light, we dun go to higher ISO, this prob should not b obvious and be totally avoided?

I came frn nex5, so i dun really understand y shooting in jpg using A77 is under utilizing the camera?

No matter the camera, raw is the better choice as it gives you more options during editing.

But raw takes much longer more time to edit and there's a learning curve to it.
Without experience in raw editing, the jpg may actually look better.

Still, in the long run. Learning raw is the way to go, provided you got the time to process it.

Excellent kit lens for A65 and A77 !

I still struggle to use the rite setting for e rite Frame..
so i not going into Raw and Raw PP first...
my 4month dotter also takes up too much of my time...
so i think for most shoot, i use jpg except for some, i will use raw+jpg... pp in future if time permit. :X

Build quality looks really good but how do u define "affordable"? I tink this lens on its own will be at least $800 - not exactly affordable though must be said not expensive either.

The price of 16-50/2.8 will be around $900-1000 and this is very interesting if we compare to the closest competitor such Canon EF-S 17-55/2.8 or Nikkor DX 17-55/2.8 ..

affordable ....Its Tammy 17-50/2.8.I think it will be a big hurdle to pass with this price range

If you want quiet, smooth and swift AF during video, then the SSM motor in the new lens is worth it, not to mention its weather sealed also.

Not to mention that the new Sonys SLTs will do wonderful things with that lens which they can't with the Tammys.

War wonderful things besides fast af, silence and lens profiling by a77?

Is it possible to have the rear dial set to change ISO?

It's easier to just press the ISO button. Then the front dial gives full ISO stops, the rear gives 1/3 stops.
