Sony DSC-RX100

what the best price for rx100 and where?
where the grip sold?
and case to recommend?

Hong Kong.

In singapore, call the shops that we have already recommended over and over and over again.

Just go visit the major camera stores at Funan or SLS. the prices are lower.

For the love of all things holy... if you go sls, *only* consider OP on the 6th floor.

Do NOT recommend SLS to a newbie unless you're willing to help them avoid all the sharks

what kind of photos are you trying to achieve? close-up of the insects? or them just flying around

Hi, just them flying around....multiple spots of lights in the dark...possible? Oh and i will be on a river cruise while viewing the fireflies...so the boat will be moving and flies will be moving and the environment will be very dark. Appreciate some advice thanks. :)

Even for professionals with the best equipment that will be tough. They will disembark and set up a tripod and long exposure. Don't underestimate how dim the fireflies are... You would need a large large aperture, and ISO of 6400 and up, especially since you will be moving.

You're bringing a knife to a tank-fight. ;)

Looks like 70 or so second exposure will do the job if they're not moving...

thanks for the effort...but RX100 can do max 30secs only and we'll be on a moving boat..and with my amateurish skills i guess i'll get pitch dark shots most of the time hehe...but i'll still try out with high ISO and longest exposure and see how it goes :)

I personally feel that taking stills of fireflies while handheld moving is Abit meaningless, since u can't really do LE for trails and snaps would b dim n noisy n just dots on a black bkgd. Video would b better...

Finally 28 pages of comments.. anyway, just got my RX100 today, and was looking for the books and accessories.. I dunno if its alright to post url there, if cannot, please let me know.

Seems like 52mm is the most common size.. lensmate item all have 52mm. May I know what larger is better? To reduce vignetting or distortion? I know some things are larger the better, but not sure about filters

Newbiw here, read through this thread but need some help.

Been looking at few simple cameras n decided in rx100. Today went shopping at Funan n found the prices at be at $880-890. Is that the normal deal? Cos I read this thread some bros here can get at $82x?

Only came across one small shop at ground floor selling rx100 at $82x but with non Sony 8 gb memory card. A bit lost here, can advise is $$880 good price to buy?

Thanks for the help in advance.
