At this price Sony is playing in the Leica territory, niche and premium for the red dot. The Leica X2 with a 16mpx APS-C sensor and24mm f2.8 lens is priced at about US$2K. Therefore, with a ff, 24mpx sensor, 35mm f2.0 lens and smaller package an additional $800 is reasonable. As I have said in another tread, Sony should have branded this as a Contax!

If the M10 is using the same sensor and priced at > 10k, which will likely be the case..... then having a nice sonnar 35mm f2 cz fixed lens on the same full frame sensor now makes a little bit more sense, no?

I believe those with NEX7 will be disappointing to see this. If NEX3/5, damage not much due to pricing but NEX7, a bit over priced. Size wise, if RX1 does surface, it might be end of NEX series? :think:
last heard the best package is getting it from Sony staff with staff discounts, heard its sub 900?? i got it at 975 ... not much of discount through ..

Went to dnd with rx100 n most says photos nice when preview. But after i transfer to pc, color so so only, ha ha! But most quite surprise that the flash can be bounce. I also borrow a external batter charger to keep the camera last for 4+ hrs as i also got video to record. I going to collect my iwalk 8200 mah n hopes it could charge it too. Overall, nice n small compact camera but with gd performance.

I have come to the conclusion that nothing smaller than an APS-C sensor size cuts it... I have tried Fujifilms S9600 and HS 20EX - man, the image quality sucks big time... really bad... low light is practially unusable... for compacts I have run through a few, TX-7, W500, HX-100... and they all are crap, especially with low light... so my conclusion was to get a NEX, but there wasn't a good enough lens... 18-55 didn't cut it for me in terms of focal length... plus the crazy menu diving required will have driven me to throw the camera away... until the NEX-6... with a PASM dial.... and the 16-50mm lens which allows manual zooming (I'm assuming this)?! Wow! But the RX-100 is much smaller...

RX100 is a all rounded type of compact camera. NEX6 or other interchangeable lens type of camera, are more for delicated works. Why I brought RX100, cause I does have a main. If I dont have, I will get a NEX series as the sensor are larger, more choice of lens etc... Btw, the minimum focus distance on tele is bad on RX100 which I dont like, not sure about you.

Why dont you just buy a spare battery. Its more convenient. A 3rd party wouldnt break the bank
