Sony Alpha SLT A33/A55 Photo Thread

hi folks, need help on workaround of my shot below! struggled to expose the 2 faces on foreground while having that sky. if i manipulate on f-stop it will be the other way around ie. overexposed sky and properly exposed foreground. is this where the nd filters should come in? just read abt nd and graduated nd..btw, i'm not keen on editing in pshop .better take good shots to improve skill.

That was an excellent opportunity to test out your A33's HDR feature !!! ...start from HDR level 3 and go upwards....

...the other way(boring!) is to use fill flash. :bsmilie:

oh ok tnx..need to plan out a re-take :D
anyway, do you have any take on graduated nd filter? i read that it's kind of balance the exposure of top-bottom subjects (vice-versa) thus able to produce a desired outcome. my reference;

I have the ND filter I have not tried the GND yet. GND will help on the situation (similar to your photo posted here). what you can do is expose/meter you shot to your friend's face and place the GND filter onto the horizon it will make your sky more expose rather than over expose. :)

Some Pano shot (not using the sweep pano feature of my A33) this was the old fashion stitching multiple photos :) with the help of PS ;p (All photo have been resized by phtobucket

Here's the shot of Marina almost sunset

ND filters are great for when you need a slower shutter and/or larger aperture on a bright day, the colored ones are good for special effects.

I got my Tian Ya square filter set recently from ArtWorkFoto ...really bang for the buck ...the owner (and his wife ?) are very nice pple to deal with, they'll answer any questions you may have with a smile.

yes GND is one big square glass with graduated shades... this is more better than the screw in single shade ND filter here you can expose both sky or bioght area and the dark area :) if you're lazy like me get the screw in ND filter maybe ND4, ND8 and ND10 should be good for now I only have ND4 will get ND10 soon also hehehe

Thanks bro I've gotten that impression to most who see ths pics. hehe very little PP done to these pix bro, just convert RAW to JPEG (althought I save raw+jpeg) I just did the following

1. Covert RAW to Jpeg
2. Change the Creative Style to SUNSET
3. Put the NR to Off
The above was done using the Sony supplied RAW file converter

4. lower the saturation 2/3-1 stops
5. Crop
6. Add in the signature
The above using PS and Olympus Master lols

Yeah bro when I bought the beercan I was only aiming for a telezoom lens that's slightly better than the kit lens. I never knew it would be this great lens :) I love it now I am looking for another Minolta lens 135mm F2.8 :)
