Sony Alpha SLT A33/A55 Photo Thread

Nice ! :bsmilie: ...so how do you like the 'Minolta' colors ?

I like it bro it reminds me of my previous Zuiko lens I would say not bad for a 25 years old lens!... the only problem is it's freaking heavy, and huge specially when you have the lens hood on... my A33 looks like a toy attached to the lens, when walking around I am holding the lens not the camera hahaha:bsmilie:

:thumbsup: from me, I just shoot few photos with this lens I immediately fell love to this lens....

Nana is a good cat. She stay still to let me practise my shooting.

All my pictures are straight out of the camera, no PP. I am shooting RAW + JPEG. Anyway, I have not learnt how to PP yet even though I have software to do it. Hope to get pointers from gurus out there as I am now shooting based on instinct.

Any reasons why -0.3EV ?

...try this profile: standard mode, contrast 0, saturation +1, sharpness +2 (-/+ 0EV)

The A33 is known for noise above ISO800, could you try a few shots at ISO 100 or 200 ?

Thanks for the feedback. Did not set it back because I was busy trying out the aperture, speed and custom WB. Anyway, I saw posts that mentioned that EV can be adjust, so I didn't bother. :)

I saw your post about the profile and I will try it out as there is a family gathering this Saturday.

I feel that I am not good with picture composition. Whenever I shoot, I will try to visualise a very nice painting out of the subject and try to achieve the result. Maybe I should read up on the rule of thirds as a start.

My only advise for you is not to worry too much about your composition, technical knowledge and most important of all, what other people tell you about your pictures !!!
As long as you 'feel' for a particular photo you've taken ...THAT's a great picture !

....Other then that,:bsmilie: if you're not shooting sports or anything fast action (ie: kids) don't rush, be patience and wait for just the right moment or adjust your position and try again.
The more you practice, the more 'great' photos you'll have and the better you will become !

 yep what bro Ghostfit said is true... I may add to bro Ghostfit.... Just enjoy, practice and more practive and enjoy more. Try looking at your subject in different perpective, angles/views.

The 1st time I have my DSLR I always shoot in P-Mode and learning from the camera how it set the Aperture and Shutter Speed even put ISO to Auto and WB to Auto before and my exposure to 0 and also learn from my mistakes.

Since you shooting in RAW+JPEG you dont have to worry much coz you shave the RAW file you can tweak it to your licking e.g. Exposure, WB, Color Saturation, even Dynamic range and among others. ISO you need to watch for it try to balance noise and sharpnes... Higher ISO normally the Sony cam noise reduction will kick in this will make your images softer.

at 1st try using P or A mode so you'll need to adjust and remember few things such as ISO/WB... Until now even I shoot in M mode there are times I tent to forget my ISO setting e.g. set it to 400 when shooting indoor then goes out never put it to 100/200 :(.

For now shoot and learn..

just gotten a beercan 70-210 constant f4 below are some photos take by A33 and the lens

No PP just convert RAW to JPEG, added signature and crop some photos

I own a beercan b4 .... cant imagine u bringing out beercan lens on A33 body. The grip nt tt gd so u gotto b reali careful holding it when using a heavy lens

yeah bro what I do is have the sling on my neck and hold the lens on the zoom rubber... cant hold the cam along like we do using light lenses... I am scared also that it may break my A33 lens mount  so always holding the lens rather than the cam body

Posting my 1st few test shots from the A55 + 50/1.8. All are taken at Standard profile with +1 to saturation and +1 sharpness except for pic 3 which is using B&W profile with +2 sharpness. No PP done.

Actually I feel abit disappointed with the ISO performance at 1600 coz can see noise quite obviously when viewing on my computer monitor. I was expecting more from the new Sony 16mp sensor because I read so many good things about it on the Pentax K5. From what I have seen from some sample pics on the Pentax sub-forum, Pentax K5 seems to have no problem with noise up to ISO 6400..

I know A55/A33 will lose around 1/3 stop of light because of the translucent mirror but I was expecting it to perform at least well up to 3200.. Anyway I am not bashing the A55 coz I bought it with my hard-earned $$ but just that I dun understand how come there can be significant difference of noise performance between 2 cameras using the same sensor. And somemore Sony is the one that came up with the sensor.. Anyone here got compare the iso performance of the A55/A33 with the K5 before can comment?

There was a long discussion on the A55's low light capabilities (with lots of pictures) awhile ago...
