You are comparing a system that was launched > year ago :nono: What an unfair comparison. Don't say the D80 CMI ok... :nono: The Nikon, Sony, Canon cameras have it's pros and cons.

Well, I went to the A700 launch in Sydney today.

The camera....

Feels good, Well set up menu system with quick access to changes via the fn button.

The 3" LCD is good for viewing the settings and also gives a clear view of photo taken.

Fast !!!

The venu....

Rather different. It was in a building of 4 levels.

We started at the 2nd level and had a brief talk about the camera and Sony's idea on DSLR's

We were then told that on the other 3 floors were clues to a double murder and we were to photograph evidence...

Bottom floor had a Citron with a guy slumped in the back seat and blood that had poured from his head.

Various odd things lying around.

On the 3rd floor was a half naked girl lying on a couch (also looking that she had been hit on the head...blood).

Again various things such as wine glasses splatters of blood, movie tickets etc.

4th floor had a guy in hand cuffs and a couple of detectives (again more clues, ash tray, blood, cheese etc).

We had access to every lens that is availble for the A700 along with about 8 bodies, flashes and ring-flash.

It was an experience, I will say that much.

Will I buy an A700 ? ..... Think I prefer the 40D :bsmilie:

Hi eow,

I guess it comes down to .... some people like to drive a BMW, some like to drive a Merc.

All up, I didn't think,"Wow this is some great camera !"

Apart from anything else, I still prefer to have the LCD on top for when I want to change various settings.

A person that has a good set of Sony/Minolta lens will LOVE it.

I don't think it offers enough for me to change ship.

Just my view..... ...oh yes, it is a bit mor expensive than the 40D.

For me ...........No Sweat becos at the end of the day ....it is the MAN behind the camera that counts.

I am presently using 2 cams which are considered slowest by today's standards ........ but what the heck ............. No :sweat:

Aiyoh, how come my nick now kena mentioned? Why you all don't like Pentax? Why you all think it is a sloooow camera izzit? I'm a poor guy, new Sony may be fantastic but how to afford the expensive Sony and CZ lenses liao... Pentax sooo much cheaper, still got money leftover to eat in restaurant... :bsmilie:

Just hold on lah. I'm sure the price will drop. If not then get from overseas lor.

hold on till next year the prices will drop just like the iphone in usa which drop its prices after 6mths. at least buy it next year near july-dec which all products start dropping. I normally buy electronic products during that period and also you will get more attractive kits for a700.
