And it's a good thing you spotted that before you blew big $$ on a fancy UWA.

Comments on an earlier post I made with the A7-19mm Elmarit-R combination led me to look a little closer. What I noticed was that roughly the 5mm periphery of the frame on the A7 shots was soft at f/8, while the same areas were pin-sharp with the same lens on my 6D, as the lens is reputed to be.

So I tried my 24mm Elmarit-R, which is a reportage lens that gracefully softens going toward the corners. On the A7 it's not just soft; the colors actually get somewhat mangled in the peripheral areas of the frame.

I recall reading on one of the Sony rumor sites maybe a year and a half ago where a Sony exec was quoted as having said that creating a full-frame sensor for e-mount was not a task for the faint-hearted. Perhaps this is one of the challenges he had in mind.

I'd term this a characteristic of the A7 rather than a shortcoming. For my purposes, it is still a fantastic tool.

A7 with 90mm Summicron-R at f/4…

I have not pixel peep my 21mm and 19mm pix... will shoot raw one of these days and see how it is. my main issue with my current adapters (el-cheapo China made) it vignette not that bad but you can't use OOC images due to vignette.

Cron 90 is one of my Fav lens darn sharp even wide open some more step down

If you're not shooting for A1 prints or purposely trying to make the lens look bad, these UWAs should be eminently acceptable, even very good in the case of the 19mm-A7 combination.

Yup, the 'cron 90 is a lens that makes me go outside and search for stuff to shoot with it! :D

yeah noticed that too I thought I have uncheck that options... hmmm anyways now I cant remove the attachments. If the CS server wants to get bloated soon with all pix being uploaded to their server by default its the Admin's call :-)

LOL... I think they might do a rethink later...

A7 + Zeiss ZM 28 (with Hawks' adapter)

iso50, 8s, f9

Around my place... with FE 55/1.8

Have been shooting with heavier chrome M9P with chrome 50lux, so A7R with 55FE is lighter and easier to shoot.

Tripod hands...

Ha tripod hands...I guess my training comes from shooting the 1dx & 5d3 with lenses like the sigma 120-300 and teleconvertors!

Haha... me too actually. Have been training with 5D3 and D800E too besides M9P, but not with the super big zoom lens though. Just the 85mm F1.2. The best portrait lens with the smoothest bokeh.

Give it a try. You never know until you try.

Most stores at Funan are opened from 11am on Sunday. Grab the one with the red R.

Airport T3 even better. GST obsorbed. B..B...B....

What's the big deal I keep reading about needing such steady hands to shoot an A7R? Extrapolate the sensor size down to APS-C, and it's roughly the same as shooting a NEX-6. ;p

I think bro most of the new adaptors to Sony A7/r came from either with in body or lens stabilization... including those coming from NEX and Fuji...

What I do when I shoot indoors I shoot on S-Mode and set my shutter to 1/100 or 1/160, Auto ISO (since A7/r has a good high ISO don't really bothers me much) if I want to freeze and avoid blurring. Outside with nice light source I shoot A-Mode also Auto ISO. Reason I choose these two setting is I normally shoot wide open on my primes legacy lenses seldom step down unless needed, with these two settings I almost don't need to adjust anything other than maybe WB with less things to tweak I can focus on my focusing and framing
