hehe yea the shot of the lily is nice indeed, but its is also because of the way it is framed with the leaves and the water reflection providing the interesting background, rather then just the sharpness of the lens.

I don't mind the blur leaves, but I find the buildings distracting. The lily is pin sharp with nice contrast.

Hehe the leaves are sharp because it is f2.8. If you don't like the buildings den u need a faster lens which the zeiss isn't

f/0.95 will be appreciated. Tks Zeiss

If you shoot that lily at F1.4 or F0.95 at that distance, only the tip of the flower may be sharp...

Hi

Ok, I've been shooting the A7 a lot since I got it one day before the official launch and since the initial pics I posted here, so far the experience has been nothing short of brilliant, especially after I got the Voigtlander M mount lens adapter and started using it with my M mount Leicas and Voigtlander.

Have shot a wedding with it (together with a M9), some events, church services, and during my walks, have seen and shot rainbows TWICE with the A7. I take it that buying the A7 is a good sign haha!

with kit lens - it's not that bad for a kit lens to be honest....... just need to make sure it focuses accurately in low light....

The CV50 1.5 looks very good. However, at $1,200, I think I'd rather get the FE55 and trade the F1.5 for F1.8 to gain AF. Did you MF or use peaking. Are most of the shots at F1.5?

I use high level peaking most of the time (yellow color). Initially I had the urge to magnify for every shot, but after some practice I got used to not magnifying, and just relying on peaking with normal EVF view - works great! It's possible to get a feel for when magnification is needed or not.

yes, most of them at f1.5!

My office is currently near redhill :) (though we are shifting out soon!)

For the 35mm, I prefer to use the M9 to be honest - peaking with the 35mm can be highly distracting, especially at night with all the christmas lights. I do lower the peaking level to mid in Orchard road with the 35mm.

With the CV, it's more effective to use the Sony due to the fact I can focus off centre and that lens at f1.5 is AWESOME for peaking.

As for the shooing experience, the M9 is definitely better for street, with the optical VF and easy rangefinder abilities. But the Sony is great when the light level is low and I've to go higher than ISO 1600. A lot of these shots are ISO 1600 and above.

IQ wise, I haven't quite got the most out of the A7 i feel - I am not sure if it is the RC version of lightroom, but the images aren't as crisp as I expected them to be. Certainly the old CCD on the M9 without AA filter is sharper and seems to resolve more at low ISOs. But then again, i'm not a pixel peeper - if I can live with ISO 1600 on the M9, I guess I'm not that picky :P

haha looks like you have a weakness for not just bokeh but also xmm

Looks like you need the A7r

Anyway, here's a pic, shot with the A7 and the CV 50mm f1.5 ASPH II M Mount version (finally got a Voigtlander adapter)

Hear hear... Voigtlander adapter is really the best (along with Novoflex). super flat and zero freeplay... Even with the sony kit lens, I couldn't achieve secure sturdy fit like the Voigtlander does.

Don't bother with the el cheapo China made adapters, waste of money. Bought one to try, but it was crap.

Did you experience any smearing at the edges on your CV?

Try the CV 35mm f1.2... so sharp even when wide open... so much sharper than my Canon FD 50mm f1.2.

Maybe I should try the CV 50mm f1.1 or the SLR Magic 50mm T0.95 (the Leica Noctilux 50mm f0.95 killer)
