Sony A7 II

Hey all

New to the Sony family and just got my Sony A7ii yesterday.

Just wondering where is the best place to buy the Metabones Canon EF Mark IV?

Thanks all in advance!

cathay photo has the mark 4.

Thank you.

Funny. I tried a Mark III today and it didn't work with the A7ii. Is this a firmware problem?

Super new to this so could appreciate any help possible.

Thanks so much guys, for even reading this. Appreciate it.

It's also a good time to buy lenses .. FE 24-70 = $1180 gst included. :D

Bro

Sony Days brochure indicated $1349...May I know where is selling at this price?

Thx

Check out MS Color .. sorry but I don't buy direct from boutique stores so their prices are meaningless to me :)

I think there is purchase with purchase going on for the 24-70 f/4 lens and other items.

Any idea how much are funan selling this a7ii ? Is it the same as Sony main store ?

Dear owners of the A7ii, may I ask for your feedback on this very interesting camera?

I have a EOS 5D2 and a NEX 5N. I travel with the 5N as it is far smaller and lighter for trips. I mainly use the SEL 18-200 on it. It is also a very fun camera to use mediocre AF notwithstanding.

The 5D2 these days is only used for important shoots (event cover for church mainly). I recently covered an event where even the 5D2 was struggling with high ISO. At ISO6400 it became blotchy and noisy. 3200 was a bit better but the difference between my camera and 5D3 shots was significant (some of my colleagues were forced to shoot their 5D3s at ISO 12800).

The NEX 5N was really very noisy at IS3200 even with tricks like hand held twilight mode. It also didn't AF very well causing some grab shots to be out of focus. But it could do shots like this on the fly-

So I am looking at upgrading. It will need to be something that can handle high ISO well enough to do indoor dim light events. I cannot justify the very expensive 5D3 when I only use it for events and my main camera is a 5N. The A7ii seems like it might be a good compromise with small size, MF with my EF lenses (got the adaptor for my NEX already). Maybe can even consider traveling with the A7ii+ kit lens+ SEL 18-200 (for longer reach). A friend who has the A7s says he doesn't use it for event cover as it doesn't focus well enough. A bit worried that A7ii will be inferior to a EOS 6D at low light and worse at AF to boot.

So can the A7ii AF well (read: adequately lock on to moving subjects) in low light (eg concerts)? Will the image hold up well between 6400-12800? If it can, it will replace my NEX 5N and I'll use it alongside the 5D2 until I have an more complete system (flash, native long lens, UWA eg)....

The alternative is to get the EOS 6D and sell off the 5D2. But I know I won't want to travel with it...

I must say Steve Huff's pix do reassure me of the high ISO performance quite a bit...

High ISO ?
A7s then

A7s definitely can handle to high ISO like nothing else can... but as I am looking for a jack of all trades camera, was hoping the A7ii would be good enough... Would also like to use my ancient Carl Zeiss Jena lens again with the steady shot feature.
I was reading through all the comments on Steve Huff's review... he actually says it has better AF than a D800 and a EOS 6D (it's not in the body of the review). I think that's reassuring enough for me to pop down to Sony Centre this week and try it out.

if high ISO is your top priority and you have your mind fixed on A7 ii... why not just consider the A7 first?.... think the IQ should be more or less the same right?.... 0 EV vs -1 EV low light af I feel doesnt differ by much also....

spend the savings on lenses... and wait for the A7S ii (with 5 axis) to come out... that combo will be a killer I feel....

I agree it is worth checking out. Someone just told the the older A7 can be had for RM$3600 in JB now...incredible value! And yes, I think lots of people are dreaming of an A7S/ A7ii hybrid.

actually the rrp has dropped quite a bit now

Only 1.6k at Sony website. Local street prices should be around 15% off which works out to be same as JB prices. Give the shops a call to find out :D

Go Changi T3 Electronics Hub next to Itacho Sushi...A7 body is 1999 before 20% discount and GST 7% off. Treat it as 20+7 discount which is 14xx.
