Someone else trying to login with my username ?

Several times, I have tried to login in the evenings and the login fails because my login attempts have exceeded the treshold. Fine if I really did try to login but I didn't. Anyone with the same problem (perhaps a technical issue) or do I have to worry that someone is trying to 'break' into my account.

Just checking.

probably some hacker/prank is doing brute-force hacking on your account. i believe this has happened (far too often unfortunately) and succeeded before with a few CSers here. i suggest you change your password to a stronger password.

tks for the advice.

I've experienced this as well. More than once a week.

hmm. why do ppl wanna hack accounts here? especially normal accs.

could it be related to the recent database error?

Recently I experienced it too. Kind of annoying though no harm was done yet. CS did email the ip address to me but i wonder wat can i do with it.. is there anyway to track the person down?

I get it a lot too. But funny thing is this.

I tried to do it to myself one time, do several wrong password logins. The lock happens, and I get an automated email from Clubsnap showing IP address of the attempt.

Thing is, for these other occasions, I DID NOT get any email at all.

So mods, is it normal? or is it a bug?

CS is trying to protect the user by blocking IP address if the number of attempts is more then the required.

I know that.

My question is, it should send me an email if such a breach was attempted. But it never did in the situations I encountered. I thought it was down, so I tested it myself, and lo and behold, the system sent me an email.

So why did it not send me an email in the other "attempts"? And could it be there were no attempts at all? Just that there is a bug in the system?

It is blocking the IP address, but not the user account.

Oh.. ok..

I suddenly realize what is going on.

Probably it blocks the IP address and since IP addresses for some ISPs are dynamic.. or if the block happens to a subnet, a number of people get blocked as well.

Got it.
