Ok for convenience of referral I have posted the direct link to the map which shows the general viewing areas for public, VIP area, funfair, concert and stalls/food areas etc.

The fireworks firing area is at the round patch of land jutting out into Marina Bay just next to Benjamin Sheares Bridge, as can be seen on the map.
yo bro, yeah thanx i managed to "unblind" myself and found it!! ahha

now for the next stupid question... do they fire straight up, or into the middle of that white circle (like an angled tragectory)...? ;p

ok ok... since i have done firework and seen it in close range and shot it before during my ns days .. Let me ans your qn there.. MOST of the time they will fly STRAIGHT up.. unless the wind blows and i mean BLOW.. and the highest they can ever go with the largest shell is about 400 m straight up.

several shot maybe fire to create different effects and huge
...

i see.. thanx for the info..

so i'm thinking if the fireworks explode directly on top of firing area, shooting from esplanade or even the other side, the background is gonna be nothing, except the sheare's bridge....

Hi ,

U all most right friend,BTW are u from AMMO base during yr NSF time?I am from Ammo Base (ASC) ROD on Dec 1985.

Good luck to yr shoot.See u there.

Regards

Managed to book a room at Swissotel (facing Esplanade) on 56th floor for a
visitor, is it too high and too far for viewing/shooting of fireworks on 1st Aug ?

I'm in a dilemma as to what ISO speed is ideal...ISO 64, 100 or 200?
Also, should I just be shooting at the fireworks in the sky or would it be good to have the city skyline in the background? My only concern is that the at shutter speeds of 2 - 8 secs, I might either risk under or overexposing the skyline while correctly capturing the fireworks.

My understanding is that the fire works will be on 1, 8 and 15 August. The best way to determine the best location to shoot is by going to the first one on August 1. You will know then where to go or which hotel to book for the subsequent fire works on the 8 and 15/8.

Hi guys, just to let you know, the location of one of the firing point for fireworks on the 31st July is at Kallang Netball/Tennis court. I'm been there for the past 3 days, having KFC for lunch and dinner ;(

:ipuke:

:flush:

And I can tell you, even if you are 200 meters away from the firing site, the low frequency vibrations are super strong. Enough to rock my stomach significantly. So if you happen to be taking pictures near a firing site, do make sure everything is very very well secured. I can't stress this enough. And of course, don't forget ear plugs.

Just my 2 cents.

Errr... I think there's some confusion here. There's the Singapore Fireworks Festival. That's 1st, 8th and 15th August.

Then there's NDP and NDP Preview (or rehearsal) complete with fireworks. Separate things, bros. Dun go to the wrong place to shoot on the respective days!

I only can make it on 8th and 15th. So if going to book a hotel, will there be enough space to put the camera if more than 5 person going? And do all want to book hotel for each different day?

Hi, heard on the 933 radio that there is fireworks tommorrow, can any confirrm when and where? Not able to make it on Sundays...

Anybody thought of getting a room at the Swissotel?

Great idea, i suggest we'll get a group of 5ppl and split the cost of a hotel room. before the shows begin, we'll set all our equipment and chill out with tib bits...

interested? anyone? which hotel?

the firing spot is shown on my pic, seen from Shears Bridge. Pic uncropped taken with a 17mm lens on 1.6 mulitplier DSLR(anything more than 20mm wont be ideal). As mentioned, it's pretty near the action and limits the composition ;p. my coming target area is the Esplanade roof...who wants join me for a recce ? :D

New Year's Day '04

from this photo, do u think the bridge will be too near to capture the fireworks and the city's skyline? below is a map, can u guys just super-impose it in PS the best or most suitable position to capture the action.

cheers
