ah thanks..
quite bad shots actually.
plus the weather the past few days is quite hard.
iso 200 f4 1/30-60 at 9am... tat to me is quite irritating.. really wished the lens was faster.. haha

i recommend wait a while if you don't really need it.. cause i think the raw speeds n handling will really put alot of ppl off..
wait till it's like all over the shops, and alot of people buy it.. i am quite sure alot of them will end up re-selling it..
then can get it cheap.. haha

cheers
When will you be reselling yours? ;)

haha when sigma SG gets their hand on the DP2/3... with raw write times of under 1 sec and a f2/2.8 lens...

but i'm reselling my GRD... haha..

It's sensor cannot record 16:9, it can but it's croped.

The pics still look sweet to me, for a P&S!

Really envious you've got your hands on one! Dunno when it's gonna be sold widely here. I heard the first batch is already sold out in Japan?

Cheers,
It is available locally... $100+... a lot cheaper than the viewfinder which costs $200+.

Order them from the local dealers loh. They will get them from Sigma Singapore for you. I checked with Parisilk on this when I saw someone buying the DP1, flash, viewfinder, battery, hood, etc from them yesterday.
New stocks of DP1 coming next week by the way. ;)

Do you kow how much it wil cost?

all i can say is i got a quote for hood n a spare batt locally to amount to $160sgd... check amazon jp, it adds up to only $60sgd.... so i'm holding back on them for now..

I meant the retail price of the DP-1.

PUI! PUI! PUI! Still these kinda ridiculous prices. :sticktong

 agreed.

just waiting for grey set if any. else just buy when travelling abroad. at $600 (one PS3!) price difference, definite worth it.

I don't think you could get it overseas for S$1,000. It's selling for US$800 now in the States.
And if I orders it from online shops like B&H, it would cost US$800 + US$47.40 shipping. Taking into consideration the 7% GST and currency rate, it would work out to about S$1,256 which should be about S$200 less than the street price (after bargaining) for the DP1 here.

If there is a will, there is a way. It will definitely be less than $1200 when my opportunity comes. :p

handling wise, my rough gut feel, it's definately not as good as the grd 1, i don't like grd2's non- full turn thumb wheel..
but the dp1 handling is somewhat slightly better than the canon g9.. someone might argue otherwise, but tat's how i feel.

just bought the g9 and it remains a top class p&s for me - but I especially respect the handling and controls which is pretty much as close as a dslr as you can get. but the dp1's image quality especially in high iso's hit the right buttons for me.

for my reference, hows the shutter lag on the dp1 compared to the g9 ?

not sure about it when using AF, or as compared to the G9.
i've been used to MF, so i use it full time MF on the DP1 too. With MF, there's no shutter lag.
I did try the AF a few times, it's painful enough for me not to use it again. Horribly slow when in low light.
