Saw the unit in Tokyo.

I was there on the launch week. Most shop has the display units but no stock in the store. Play with the demo units on the display stand. The feel is pretty plastic, given the price of SGD 1000+ product. Hope that the big CCD really shine...

Shops such as Yodobashi and Big Camera is selling at 99900 yen with 5% tax rebate if you show your passport.
Shop such as Mapcamera is selling at 90000 yen with 5% tax rebate if you show your passport.

will be worth it if can get at 90,000 yen.. the money you save can get you the whole accessory kit.

anyone going back up to japan for a trip or something? Mind helping get some spare DP1 batts.. sooo much cheaper there..

I believe it's $70+ here. Sold out already but new stock should be coming by next week together with hood adapter and flash. ;)

yeah.. i got the hood n batt off ebay for about 80sgd including shipping..
it's only about $28sgd in jpn...

not sure about it when using AF, or as compared to the G9.
i've been used to MF, so i use it full time MF on the DP1 too. With MF, there's no shutter lag.
I did try the AF a few times, it's painful enough for me not to use it again. Horribly slow when in low light.

do you mean that the autofocus on auto is slow ? especially in low light ...

what about the timing between pressing the shutter button and picture taken - varies between manual and auto focus ?

Here's my new baby... taken by it's elder brother. ;)

wow! tomcat. you own both the sd14 and dp1. thats incredible! really envy you man! show us more of your nice shots. maybe more and more will buy after being "poison" by your fantastic pictures.

Cool!! You using the Voigtlander view finder instead?

Will you be getting the flash as well? Quite interested to see the unit.

Cheers,

Yup. I'm really not too keen to pay $200 for the cheapo looking Sigma viewfinder. Since I have this super bright viewfinder sitting around doing nothing, I thought that I might as well use it. Ordered the flash already. :)

nice..
i tried the ricoh GV1 on it, blocks the power button... have to use your finger nail, must be long, to turn the dp1 on/off...
haha

Don't envy... just buy loh... but I'll be eating grass for the next few months though. :(
Just posted a few pics from the SD-14 in the 'SD-14 Users' post by the way. :)

Totally agreed with Tomcat that the detail is really very good out from default setting. Not only day time but also the night pic.

As stated in the 2 reviews above, I find that the details captured by the DP1 is just unbelieveable !

These are 2 test-pics shot out of the window of my place.

Haha now I know which block you live at. Mine is down the hill from yours, point block nearest to guardhouse.

DP-1 owners, how about a pic with an IR filter over the lens so we can see the IR performance? Thanks!

BTW, is the DP-1 readily available in Hong Kong, would anyone know?
