DP-1 owners, how about a pic with an IR filter over the lens so we can see the IR performance? Thanks!

BTW, is the DP-1 readily available in Hong Kong, would anyone know?
Unfortunately, the sensor is totally blind when an IR filter is placed over the lens. It can't even focus at all. The IR blocking filter is really effective in this camera. :(

The Adapter Hood and spare battery are now available.... $38 each. ;)
Unfortunately, the adapter hood does not lock in place when attached and can easily be slipped off with just a twist.... making it rather useless for attaching a UV filter to protect the lens. :(

ooo where??

Very good quality compact. If you put to f8 then all the light will become star.

With reference to the issue "the adapter hood does not lock in place when attached and can easily be slipped off with just a twist.... making it rather useless for attaching a UV filter to protect the lens ". One can put some white tape which usually use for the metal hose fitting onto before rotating the hood parts on to each other.

I eventually found out that the adapter hood can actually lock in place... but you must align the adapter hood and and camera properly first and then give a hard twist until there is a 'click'. It was just that I didn't realise that we need to use so much force to lock the adpter hood in place earlier on. :dunno:

Now I just need to look for a 46mm lens cap to use on the adapter hood. :(

You can go to Adephile lowest level to look for the shop selling a second hand camera call david of P&G Camera shop to get it. I got mine last saturday.Cost of S$5/-

Just a slight correction, it's The Adelphi, not Adephile.

read on some forums that there is difficulty focusing in low light/low contrast because there is no AF assist lamp. How big of a problem is this?

it's slow. how much of a prob depends on how reliant you are on AF.

BIG.
The DP1 is not a good camera for low light conditions. It is very good under good light and outdoor conditions as I don't think there is a P&S digicam available that could produce more details and sharpness under those conditions. Heck, it would even beat some if not most DSLRs.

It would be a great camera for landscapes and street photography and as a pocketable companion to a DSLR and that was what I bought it for. :)

yea was thinking about getting a pocketable companion to a DSLR too. trying to see how the Ricohs compare to the DP-1.

May I know where is the best place to get the DP1? ..

Is there any way to mount a filter onto the front of the lens?
Not using an adapter.

So that you don't have to put on the cover, and the front element is protected when u put in your pocket.

.

It is not that good for low light photography due to its aperture of F4 and also no assist lamp. But if one use a mini-tripod and shoot for night scene then it is really solid.

No. You would need an adapter to put on any filter.
