For real? I will be there on Friday. :D

Hi Brothers,

If you all want to try try quality of lenses, feel free to come to our store, we will let you try out anything you wish. Leica too :p

Anyone tried the new 35mm yet? How is the IQ, AF speed? Any back/front focusing issue?
How is it compared to the 35L?

According to the users from Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Sigma 35 is better on Distortion, Sharpness, CA, Vignetting , build quality, price
Canon 35 is better on focusing speed.
Most of Sigma 35 are good on focussing, just a bit slow(just a bit only), not much case on back/front focusing(so far i only hear one, maybe the camera problem)
Color are not same, some people like Canon, and some like Sigma

Most users recommend the Sigma 35 over Canon 35L because 35L is quite old(14 years of technologies).

Just for the AF I usually tend to buy 1st party lenses...

Yup, people are looking for different things.
For focus, third party lense hardly has faster speed compare to original lenses because third party lenses manufacturers doesn't know the lenses' setting and parameter inside the motor, they only can try the best to close the gap.

But this time, there is almost no back/front focus issue on Sigma 35 1.4. Sigma is improving the quality of their lenses.

The sigma looks really good. But I just got the canon 35L. Damn, guess I will just keep using for now, before changing to the sigma 35 or wait for the 35L II.

canon f2.0 look nicer than sigma f2.0.

Is Sigma 35 f1.4 lens available in Singapore?
I think i'm going to get one :)

Canon mount yes
Nikon mount yet

Seems like there's a chance to get it below $1k across the causeway or grey sets here.

grey sets are going around 900 range for the 35 :)

900? Woe thats around 200 difference
Btw does anyone know how long is the warranty?

wait for report of focusing issue first. May have to factor in the cost of the adjustment module.

In the long run the Canon is probably the more reliable lens.

@ageha: true on that. Just brought my 35L out for a walk today and it turns out quite nice.
I am still pondering if I should let it go anot. Still deciding. The focusing speed is really fast. If I dun pixel peep, the sharpness at f1.4 for canon is still acceptable.

Seriously, I would keep it but it depends on your preferences. The Sigma won't be able to beat the Canon in terms of AF speed and noise. The Canon also has a better resale value and now nobody knows how long this Sigma lens really lasts, it's still way to new.
