hi all. quick inquiry.
from all the threads, i gathered that the calibration cost is 150 bucks.. yea?... but if mine is a HK set with international warranty, has shop stamp and original receipt... will that give me free calibration? or i have to pay for it?
i did a test to see whether there is any calibration error by using a ruler (simple method).. but it seems accurate and focusing at the right spot.. but, in terms of sharpness, it is sharper when i use manual focus (with the help of live view mode) than autofocus mode. so, does it mean that i have front/back focusing problem?.. or its just sigma?? or is it the camera body's AF tracking limitations? im using canon 60D, btw.
thanks for the help (in advance), guys!
In case you haven't found the answer yet: your set is considered a grey set (as not bought locally) and will have to pay for calibration.

If I understand it correctly, Hasmizm's lens should be covered cos it comes with international warranty and he bought it in HK, the shop in HK stamped the international warranty card and he has the receipt from the shop in HK. I'm assuming of course, that the lens was "local" (to HK) and not imported from elsewhere.
guys do you use ext. flash for sigma 30mm indoors?
MARK1992 said:Hey guys, I picked up a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 second hand off a guy from a local photography forum. Everything looked good until I shot a focus test chart when I noticed that the column on the right was noticeably sharper / more in focus than the column on the left.
Centre AF point was used, focused on the black bar as usual. This was at f/1.6.
Any cause for concern?
No cause for concern. This is result of parallax error.
MARK1992 said:It does appear in typical everyday shooting conditions though. If my camera wasn't perpendicular to the bar, wouldn't there be a "band" of in-focus / sharp areas, instead of what seems to be a fairly isolated patch on the right?
Maybe you want to bring the lens down to sigma service center? It might be an out of alignment element if it is as serious as you say it is.
MARK1992 said:Yep, I'll be heading down sometime next week. Will keep this thread updated for future reference.
You need to call to book appointment. No walk in service.
