If u r taking landscape u can put to manual focus and use hyperfocus method instead :)

Just got the lens today at tk foto paid $720 cash.. Didn't do detailed testing but focusing looks ok to me:)

It was 80 bucks till late last year. ;(

Somehow it's more worthwhile to get a local warranty copy nowadays.

I went to the servicing center, the lady at the counter told me ONLY ONCE FREE Calibration for local set, then they will charged $150 per calibration. (for gray set same charge $150)

Yes, one more thing they don't service "walk in" customer you need to call to meet appointment. NO life time FREE calibration.

i think i can save a trip down to sigma service centre :p

A little off-topic here, but if you take the facial features of the second cat there and put it on on the first, it would identical to my second cat. While the colour of my first cat is similar to the second one you have here, with a little less of the white on body and bit more of the white on the face.

woah ok i think i get it.. it wud be interesting if our cats were to meet one another :bsmilie:

what is the warranty period like if i get a local set? 1 yr or 3 yrs?

I suppose this is their way of discouraging people buying grey sets. But if doubts persists with regards to Sigma products, this may drive some to buy the original brands instead of undergoing this hassle.

A better strategy may be to close the price gap with grey sets (especially those from HK) and then charge for each calibration. This will be "like for like".

hi all. quick inquiry.

from all the threads, i gathered that the calibration cost is 150 bucks.. yea?... but if mine is a HK set with international warranty, has shop stamp and original receipt... will that give me free calibration? or i have to pay for it?

i did a test to see whether there is any calibration error by using a ruler (simple method).. but it seems accurate and focusing at the right spot.. but, in terms of sharpness, it is sharper when i use manual focus (with the help of live view mode) than autofocus mode. so, does it mean that i have front/back focusing problem?.. or its just sigma?? or is it the camera body's AF tracking limitations? im using canon 60D, btw.

thanks for the help (in advance), guys!

i just got this lens 2nd hand! i gotta go calibrate it. =(

Calibration is advisable. Front focusing issue resolved after 2hrs of calibration.

would i have to calibrate it again if i change body?

and i notice the front focus issues is different when i'm using live view. why is this so? lol.

Calibration is only specific to one body so yes of you change body,u need to calibrate again..

How does this lens compare to canon 's 28mm f/1.8. Anyone use this lens in comparison? Thanks

In case you haven't found the answer yet: your set is considered a grey set (as not bought locally) and will have to pay for calibration.
