yup the newer nikon version does not have the af/mf switch.. no problem as can be switch in the body

My nikon mount 30mm f1.4 also does not have the switch.

I bought one from HK without trying, so far i think it doesn't have any focusing issue...

Hi, some updates since I was in Hong Kong today to test out the two lenses below.

Decided to just buy the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Lens for Nikon F mount from Tin Cheung Camera shop for HKD$2850. Listed on their website was going for HKD$2992.50. I am not sure what this lens asking price is in SGP but I am sure it is definitely higher (just reassuring myself, no flames pls) but do correct me if I am wrong. BTW, anyone know of the latest price quote in SGP?
http://www.tincheungcamera.com.hk/a...s=sigma+30mm+&search_in_description=0&x=0&y=0
So at the exchange rate of SGD$1.00 = HKD$5.23 so roughly SGD$545.00.

The same price of $2850 can be had for the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro HSM Zoom Lens for Nikon F mount. Listed on their website was going for HKD$3024.00. I enquired about this lens during the IT show in SGP, the asking price was SGD$715.00 at the show without GST.

For lenses without HSM, just deduct HKD$280.00

Do note that Sigma lenses sold by TC are all "water goods" however they do provide shop warranty of 1 year and international warranty on request, just make sure you get them to stamp their company chop on both sides of the warranty card..

Another info - the best exchange rate or shop I found, after comparing upto 7 different money exchange booth which ranged from HKD$4.94 to HKD$5.16 within TST, is the United Exchange Limited located in Chung King Mansion in TST which gave upto HKD$5.23.

Some updates since this post (2 weeks later) - Brought my HK bought 30mm to SG Sigma for calibration, accepted by SG Sigma with no questions asked. Just make sure to show purchase receipt and warranty (chopped both sides). Means to say can happily go buy from HK (water goods at cheaper price) and still get warranty in SG. BTW, calibration is free!

If buying online, can tell them to stamp their company chop on both sides of the warranty card?

Surprisingly, even I have read this before purchase on the spot, I forgot to ask them to stamp for me. Yet, I've sent to Sigma SG for service (calibration) and it is FOC.

hi guys,

I have been reading posts that people sending in for calibrations. Does Sigma lens workmanship so poor? I owned lens from Canon EF, EFS, L, Sigma, Tokina to Tamron, and I sent none for service centre ever... Or is it 30mm lens have design problems?

dear forumers, how long is the warranty for a local set? And I believe if I buy from hk, the international warranty is one

Local should be 2 yrs +6 month, but seems the additional 6 month comes with T&C, not sure about this...

This lens is a keeper. Quite a beast to handle cause of its shallow DOF but a joy to use after you start to understand it.

Here is a sample shot from mine.

Dear fellow users,
Does anyone have any serious problems with CA with this lens? I just got my copy and over the weekend and I realized whenever I shoot a dark subject on a bright background, there will always be a purple /greenish tint on the line separating the subject and background. Can it be repaired? I try to minimize PP so correction on every picture is not desirable.
Thanks
LK

CA is always a problem when shooting wide open against a bright background straight on..
the only way to avoid it is to angle your shot away from the light.. maybe post a pic on the CA and let us see how bad is it? you can actually do a batch desaturation on the tint to correct the CA depending on the scene..
