Guys...correct me if i am wrong. Gonna share what I understand from reading here n there so far. Take it with a pinch of salt as I might be wrong.

TST sells mainly water goods, whh means as good as no warranty at all in SG and HK. This is why they are able to press the price to such a low level. (approx 550+ range)
There might be more expensive HK "version" which comes with Sigma HK warranty ( approx 650+ range). This warranty is sort of honoured by Sigma SG and you can basically do stuff like free calibration etc).
Finally its full warranty by SG for those who are stucked here in SG and wanna test out their lens (approx 750)

its 550-650 range for hk version depending where and how u bargain.

and sigma sg does the calibration, no question asked.

I got mine at 550, comes with warranty card etc and calibrated in sigma sg.

EX DC HSM wat is means ar...i saw some 30mm lens with these spec behind..anyone care to enlighten?

EX Lens - Wif uncompromised design ideas & high level optical technology & handling, these lenses, which are Sigma's representative lenses, meet the requirements of photographers at the highest level.

DC Lens - These are dedicated digital SLR lenses wif an image circle designed to suit image sensors that correspond to APS-C size. In-house technology accumulated through the development of our digital SLR camera was used to optimize optical performance for our digital lenses. This is a high performance lense series that fuses technology such as lens power layout & coating design with the know-how Sigma has built up over many years of developing interchangeable lenses for SLR cameras. By reducing the diameter of the image circle, Sigma has acheived a more compact, lightweight lens series.

HSM - Hyper-Sonic Motor (HSM) lenses are equipped wif a motor driven by ultrasonic waves. The motor makes high AF speed & quiet shooting a reality.

Is yours a nikon mount or earlier model? Someone in the thread earlier mentioned that Nikon mount doesn't have the switch (set AF in body) and the latest HSM model have the AF/MF switch (for Canon & others).

Cheers ;)

like me shes using D90 , yes it is a Nikon mount,
are you saying that nikon mounted lens dont have af/mf switch:embrass:
or she bought old model of sigma :what:
thanks for the reply

Just curious. anyone thought of buying the Canon 28mm f1.8 over the Sigma 30mm f1.4? I'm looking for a comparison between the 2. I'm not sure but I heard that canon is much cheaper than sigma.

Sorry I can't help you much on this :dunno:...Perhaps the Nikonians here who use this baby can shed some light to confirm this? Or you can ask your friend to check from the shop she bought.
I heard that the previous model (w/o HSM) doesn't have this switch but I haven't seen it myself either. IMHO, it shouldn't matter much if your lens have full-time manual focusing ring override, right? It should be a standard feature for this lens
