Have been doing some low light testing between 5N and 7 for the past few days.
Not professional method though, its my method.![]()
Initial observation seems 7 is on par with 5N all the way up till iso3200 where 5N has slightly better IQ from iso6400 onwards.
White balance wise, 7 is more accurate and neutral while 5N is slightly warmer when set to auto for both.
Will try post some comparison shots if got time.
Overall, i would say 7 has around same IQ as 5N but has definitely better external controls and ergonomics and handling.
I found one 1700 including GST and no freebies... is that decent? Picking it up later today

My NEX 7 now up for sale in bns![]()
Sony days quoted me 1999 for body plus kit, 1799 for body only. There's a demo set to try there.

ISO1600 and above - based on OOC jpegs, 5N has the edge in the "low-light shaded areas". Hopefully, Sony can improve this via firmware update. Will try to see what raw files can produce using LR3 when i have time.
ISO adjustment - I can understand that 3/5/C3/5N doesnt have iso settings in 1/2 or 1/3 steps since its targeting the more general consumers. But this the the "pro" Nex, i really hope Sony can provide this function via firmware update. I would like to shoot at as-low-as possible iso in low light situations.
the 18-55 kit lens in black looks nice too.
Of cos.. and its heck of dontknow how many times more costly than the 18-55. lol.Yeah I used to think so too... after using the 18-55mm and then the Zeiss 24 mm, I have to say the black Zeiss looks and performs a heck of a lot better!![]()
