should i get sigma 50-500mm or 150-500mm?

what kind of tripod head should i go for it i'm going for all these big zoom lens? will manfrotto 488rc2 sufficient? i find the base plate a little small for these lens. is it good enough?

It'll work better if you use a mounting plate meant for these large lenses. Those are usually extended than longer than the ones which come with your tripod/ballhead.

I bought the Sigma 50-500mm from Orient Photo at Sim Lim Square especially for the Singapore Airshow 2008.

I concur, it's a heavy lens but personally the IQ is okay for me.

All the aircraft flypast is using the Sigma 50-500mm.
