If I am a manufacturer selling a $3000 product using a $15 Sony sensor, I would run all sorts of competition to encourage people to buy and shoot.

I used to think the same as you. Contax 645D or the Pentax 645D or the Mamiya AFD would help me get some nice pictures, I paid my school fees. :bsmilie:
Now, Contaxt 645D is still in Japan which I got a refund. Pentax 645D sold to an AngMo in Boston. Mamiya AFD2 to see who to take over.

If you are not a professional photographer doing jobs, I see no reason why you should invest more than 4K on a very basic setup.

jus saw ur msg bro. yup not a pro but i love photography. jus happen to see these system and asked ard and majority ppl say is worth it cos got a digi back and its very new less then 1k counts.

hello boss

u mean the those MF dslr are using Sony $15 sensor? i thought sensor cost a bomb.. didn't know it is so cheap... what do u think of Fuji and Canon sensor? saw post saying that Fuji and Canon sensor are better than Sony sensor... i think pentax and panasonic? also using Sony sensor now.. and of course Nikon

You won't get the same DOF on 6x6 as using the Aero on 4x5.

I know someone who has converted a Contax 85mm f/1.2 to use on a Mamiya 645, the DOF is crazy but the lens is permanently mounted on the camera.

Joey, if you can show me the pics one day...haha...

This is the first sign of LF poisoning....

In no time, you will keep your MF as second system and shoot mainly Large Format....

No turning back... ho ho ho

For a moment when i saw the portraits he did and the pic joey posted....i did consider....consider....

n im still considering.......noo nooo not for now..its just too many system and too much commitment......:)

Come join de outing..i have yet see a digital back before and i would love to see one on a MF camera....at least to see how it fairs against my dslr...:)

APSC sensors. I try not to let this threat degenerate into equipment discussion......
MF sensors are more expensive more due to a much less production volume. In reality:
The Kodak KAF 39000 is about 51X39mm, with which is 'slightly' bigger than the 36X24mm full frame.
Pentax 645D was at 45mmX33mm 40MP.

That is why I always maintain that D MF has no real advantage, especially Nikon D800 is already out.
D MF lense are so limited, compared to Nikon offerings.
Another consideration is RELIABILITY and Support. Look at history, depreciation of D equipment is too fast, too quick.

Those who own the tool, make full use of it. Those who don't have, think deep before commit.

Just excellent! And I like to read the write up which most of us usually don't do:bsmilie:.

Spotted this old man along the way to Lavender, he was packing up after having a coffee at the opposite coffee shop, then walked over to this side of the road to have a smoke.

I asked if I could take his picture, he happily agreed, citing that if he wasn't doing anything wrong, why should he be afraid of someone taking his picture.

He's still working as a karang guni man, even though he looked like he was suffering from kidney problems as he had a pipe connected to his stomach area. In spite of his health problems, he talked with a pep you rarely see in old folks these days.

Will probably drop by again if I'm free.

Coming from a fellow polaroid addict - if it is polaroids that you want to shoot, I'm assuming that you are really talking about the 4.25x3.25" FP100C, and not the FP100C45. If so, you don't have to get a 4x5. You probably already know the choices:

1. Polaroid 180, 185, 190, 195
2. Mamiya Universal Press with Polaroid back
3. Polaroid 600SE
4. Modified Polaroid 110A or 110B
5. Fujifilm Fotorama FP-1
6. Konica Instant Press

These cameras are all faster to work with compared to 4x5 monorails or field cameras.

If you really want full 4x5" polaroids, then your choices for handhold-able cameras are much more limited. My vote goes to the Linhof Master Technika Classic of course, but my wallet refuses to follow. As for monorails and field cameras, there are plenty of cheap choices.

Since shooting 4x5 lies on the exact opposite speed spectrum compared to digital, you probably want to join the outing and try the cameras out to see if that's your cup of tea.

But you know, that's a just an excuse to infect you with the bug :-)
