Make it a Saturday. Can bring reflectors and strobes brollies.....

Also can get others to bring MF, to fill in the slow pace of LF.

Lol nice one! I think must inform the next model that instead of many photos, the group shoots a few only but trade off, cannot move!

Some models are damn slow anyway. Shoot fast or slow they really don't care.... communication is key.

Strobes on location? U wanna carry battery pack ah? Or u wanna use speed light

The only issue with this is ipthat speed kight got no modelling light so ats gonna be challenging to understand what the light is doing

I have the old battery packs and been shooting wife and kid at home. The Bowens was meant for outdoor but I never used it outdoor.

Gold reflectors work well too.

Botanical Gardens is a good place to go. Don't want to feed mozzis lah.

Ok cool!!

Let me know when u guys wanna shoot? Next weekend 31st?

First time using LF for Portraits
Thanks Knight84 for arranging this shoot.

hi Billy

why not easy? what is not easy? can share with us?

this place is changi beach right?

hi bro,

perhaps, I should phrase it as... "not what I have expected"...

I was expecting very good tonal range..
stretching from very dark to very bright tone.. as if you are seeing a color picture with lots of colors (from a GREY picture ).

composition is not easy to locate also, it took me a very long time to find something like this in Singapore.
I prefer soft light ( about 7:30am )

Trees are moving and hence they gets blurred out easily.

lighting is the biggest challenge...

something like this will be nice :)

I see.. tks for sharing.. i took 4 pics at xiao gui lin yday.. film dev liao.. got scratches.. and i didn't know need to wash film after fixing.. so was wondering why so sticky and they stick to the LPL catalogue book I got from Seng Cheng.. kns!.. then i washed them thoroughly and this morning they are dry...

yday is my first true lesson in LF.. composing is so difficult!!! really need some imagination .. the side of gg is practically useless.. can't see much.. anyway better dun say too much here.. may not be appropriate section..

tks alot master billy

The true master here is actually the "bird".... :)

- to properly see the image on GG,
1) properly focus with a loupe.
2) use proper dark cloth or viewer to block out stray light.
3) fresnel screen is bright, but there are some disadvantages.
4) if you are shooting at dawn or poor lighting, you can try to use a lazer pointer to help you compose.

cheers,
Billy

Spotted this old man along the way to Lavender, he was packing up after having a coffee at the opposite coffee shop, then walked over to this side of the road to have a smoke.

I asked if I could take his picture, he happily agreed, citing that if he wasn't doing anything wrong, why should he be afraid of someone taking his picture.

He's still working as a karang guni man, even though he looked like he was suffering from kidney problems as he had a pipe connected to his stomach area. In spite of his health problems, he talked with a pep you rarely see in old folks these days.

Will probably drop by again if I'm free.

Nice shot and nice write-up!
That uncle is truly a cool-cat, I walked back later a bit later in the afternoon but he was nowhere to be seen.

Joey, amazing details shown here from the 4x5.
