SGTrekker 10D9N Everest Panorama Trek (17-26 March 2011)

Actually on that day in Bhaktapur, there was plenty of opportunities for portraiture shots of the local Nepali.
I regret not shooting more on my 70-200mm...

Here are some more street shots...

A few of us found this pretty little girl on the window of the second floor of a house as we walked past.
She was very happy and was smiling and laughing as we shot her.

It got darker and darker and even darker as we walked along the main thoroughfare of Bhaktapur.
And I found myslef having to resort to higher and higher ISO to capture my shots with sufficient shutter speed.
The lighting was going, going and gone.
And the last couple of shots I had here were really dark, low key ones...

Here were some of the portraiture shots we managed to catch while walking at semi-top speed... Hahaha...!

For some strange reason, this girl in modern school unifrom caught my attention, especially the way she was bathed in a swarm of coloured-clothed people behind her.
The contrast in colours was obvious.
But more apparent was a certain air about her. An uppity-up kind of demeanour that she possessed.
As if she belonged to an Upper Caste as compared to those around her...

Bhaktapur
Bhaktapur is the home of traditional art and architecture, historical monuments and craft works, magnificent windows, pottery and weaving industries, excellent temples, beautiful ponds, rich local customs, culture, religion, festivals, musical mystic and so on. Bhaktapur is still an untouched as well as preserved ancient city, which in fact, is itself a world to explore for tourist (for a hefty USD$15 per pax entrance fee!)

Still a little disappointed from the cancelled flight, as well as the un-appetizing dry fried chicken rice (wondering where are the chicken in the fried rice) for lunch, there wasn't much mood to shoot today. Most portraits and architecture shots CMI.

One look I already could tell that this was no ordinary 50mm.
The lines of the bells are just simply delicious!!!

LOL! i cant believe that you said nameste to the char kway teow auntie!

ROFLOL!

To the band of travelers who finally got what they asked for...
10 sure signs you are missing Lukla already:
1) You say Namaste to the Char Kway Teow Auntie
2) You reach for your walking stick instead of your car keys in the morning
3) You order Egg Vege Fried Rice or Chow Mein instead of Hor Fun at your fav Zi Char
4) You keep looking over shoulder to see if Melvin is hot on your arse
5) You dun give 2 hoots at the dog **** right in front of you...simply sidestepping it
6) You realised you walked to work w/o your car
7) You realised you have climbed 10 floors to your office, forgetting there is the lift
8) You laugh at your friends when they say Bt Timah is siong
9) You start fantasizing that ABC and EBC is actually possible
10) And lastly, ARE YOU surfing SGTrekkers Website for more backbreaking treks already? Betcha!!!

;p

and yes.. this gentleman is the one who actually bought the most trek pants...
5568675182_3dffcc8f67_z.jpg

But of course, some one found that the shops around the area sell trek pants, trekking poles, outer shell jackets all at very good prices, and we all ended up in one of these shops and hum-tum the shop owner to get trekking sticks at 300rp (S$5.40), light trek pants at 600rp (S$10.80).
Goose became the shop keeper by standing at the counter and bargaining the prices with us, and bringing the prices down even more in the process.
We had a great time that evening. And the shop found itself lightened of more trekking sticks and cold wear.

[Picture noisy and slightly Out of Focus. But just for the memory of the moment.]

Honestly, I have never thought that I would come to Kathmandu to buy these items, despite SgTrekker's repeated assurance that this was a good idea.
I now agree, because although the products are almost all non-original North Faces and such, for that fraction of the price, they would do a more than enough good job for most of the treks up the mountains.

Everyone, im still at the Swayambunath Temple. Please allow me to rewind a bit.

Wah, Ivypin, these two shots are lovely.
I like the genuine laughter on the two girls faces and I like the way the girl on the lower photo smiles so sweetly!
Keep them coming, ivypin!
