Very nice street shots, esp #1 gives a good overview of the city. Can see them playing street soccer

For sure this CMI. You have caught an image that would be symbolic of your intended journey.
Seems like you fellas not any lower than Mt. Everest.
Worth all the effort, chill and sleepless night. I believed is stacked. May I know how long for each exposure?

That is a really obvious milkyway!! nicely stacked! for the background dome. you could try to use gradient removal which shold be part of the stacking software and for the mountains, they seem to be in pretty high contrast with the background. you can try to crop the stacked version out. select one of ur subframe with nice and sharp mountains and replace it. the photo should look perfectly fine!

Marvellous milky way that vngks has done, wasn't it? I absolutely agree with you New Kid in Town.
Just that don't know why when I was there that morning, no matter how I stared and stared, I couldn't see the mikly-ness. Must be my untrained eyes.
Next time must learn to not only shoot Star Trail and Milky way from you, as well as learn to hold a recoiling equipment in both hands steadily! LOL!

Very good effort actually!! Better if you had shot it in Landscape and included more of Polaris, the North Star. You just clipped the central axis of rotation.

Next time, we gotta start shooting stars maybe around 10PM right on till sunrise hahahaha! Star trails will also be longer and nicer.
Yah... Boo hoo hoo... I clipped the central axis due to my inexperience!
Ok Ok... next time we climb up to Namche Bazaar, reach there at 5pm, have a quick dinner and powder bath at 7pm and start walking out to the View point to arrive at 9pm and stay there the whole night with our sleeping bag to do star trail.
The next round... the next round...

Agree with vngks, limwhow & the rest...got to go again. This time must include the sleeping bag & camp at the Namche Viewpoint.

This time round I will brink my sandwich, my Mars bars, my walkman, my heat packs and everything that Goose Goi brought up there I will also bring up!
And I will make sure Melvin walk in front of all of us this next time round! LOL!!!

I agree with Adrian. The star trails with Everest in the background is a good one.
Daoyin, the walking Encyclopedia, thank you so much!
Can you tell me for my that sunrise shot of the mountain, what Dablam is that?

vngks & limwhow - You guys put up two very, very good reasons why I'm seriously considering making a trip!!.. (for the moment.. it is still YES.. and before I change my mind again) ... thinking, thinking..
Yes! Don't think too long. Want to do it, JUST do it!
You might as well take the time while you are in Sri Lanka with Divinemoment to sign up with Adrian for the next Everest trip!

Stevewhy.. not a surprise you posting late.. you still got energy to go shoot at Ganbatte Japan Walkabout on Sunday !!!, you the can...

This "old" guy is full of energy and walk fast la.. Good Man!!...
Oh... we all know about Stevewhy, don't we?!
As fit as a fiddle, as fast as a swifte eagle!

hahaha... you know, that wasn't on the recommended packing list leh.. that's why I didn't have a mask at that time... only in the late morning that I managed to buy one for NPR150.. :)

Hahaha... this is classic! When Melvin asked for a marker.. all I thought of was how to distinguish a "unique" marker from all the cow and donkey dungs on the ground. Without a torch light, they will all look the same. So, unless one of us take off a jacket or 'underwear' (as limwhow suggested), or tie a bandana on a pole or something, there isn't much of a good way to leave a marker... very funny situation indeed.
Indeed it was, wkcheah!
Even now as I thought back of that moment on that morning I can't help but laugh my butts off for Melvin's last resort 'creativity'!
He was really seh liao! Hahahaha...!

Divinemoment, thank you so much for your praises.
I did stack the photos together for the star trail.
They all teach me one leh... they say must stack one leh... so I stack lor..
:bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

But sincerely, sincerely, Ladies and Gentlemen... my Star Trail shot is really really any how shot one. I am totally inexperienced in this. And that is why, from the bottom of my heart, I await eagerly all of your shots, to see how my fellow members shoot the stars and the mountains in the dark of the night.
So come, come... every one, do share your shots for that morning - both the 3am group and the 5:30am group! Thank you all in advance!

Day 7: Continuing... at Namche Everest View Point...

I believed by the time the group that gathered in the lodge lobby at 5:30am walked panting up to the view point, it was sometime around 6:15am. Because the several frozen meat sticks left still standing on the plateau finally peered, through their icicled balaclavas, their warmer counterparts making their ways to a magnificent sunrise at Everest View Point.

"Here on the left side, the peak is Mount Everest, and on its right side is Mount Lhotse," described the freshly-awoken Mahesh. "... and on the far left is Mount $#&* and on the far right is Mount %$#^ and Mount @)(#."
Sorry... my ears were frozen shut and I couldn't catch what Mahesh was saying right after 'Everest' and 'Lhotse'.

"Hey guys! The view is simply lovely!" exclaimed Adrian. "Quickly, let's grab this opportunity to take a beautiful group photo! All move to Everest's side and face... face here!"
And we all did an impromptu Fashion parade for Mount Chomolangma's entertainment.

5597002555_f14fc39957_b.jpg

Of all our group photo on this trip, this one surprisingly was the most slowly-taken. Don't know why... the Bhaktapur back street group photo, the Holi Festival Group photo and the Mani stone at Monjo group photo, everyone was very fast to react, very spontaneous and our poses were much more stylo mylo. I think because all didn't get enough sleep the night before and it was too darn cold that morning at the View Point. Hahaha... But still, I am eagerly awaiting to see the group photo at Mount Everest.

Oh yah.. actually the main purpose of showing this photo was to draw every one's attention to that small stone shed on the extreme left of the photo in which our Acpial and Melvin hid for a good half an hour. Didn't even see a ghost of their shadow while they were inside. Hehehe...

I couldn't find him. JohnnyLCP gotten to him already! LOL...!

Hi limwhow, not sure which method you used for stacking
Have found Floris' guide to be useful:
http://www.naturephotographers.net/articles0509/fv0509-1.html

Zichar, thank you very, very much for such a wonderful link to shooting star trail.
I am going to study this guide very closely and learn how to do it better.
Many many thanks!

Heh that's just one of the ways to do it
I like Floris' work and the guide seems well-written, especially on PS blending methods
Only read that when I came back from Aust though, haven't had much chance to put it into use thus far

Stevewhy, finally I can see your master piece.
Still have a lot to catch up on you and I still can remember you teach us to take a shot in a line up stone, thank for providing us the tip to catch the angle of that view.

Ah Wind, this Namche Bazaar shot very nice.
And the group photo is really spontaneous and memorable!
I see goose goi so energized and shouting so loudly after his sleep in the sleeping bag under the stars.
Stevewhy was also so excited about seeing Everest and Lhotse together.
But of course the most excited person was Adrian lah - he has got both thumbs all up!! Hahaha...
Good shot!

Wow, You guys and gals really had a fantastic adventure. It must be great feeling, looking back to see that you have overcome all the obstacles and reach the objective (with star trail and milky way photos to prove even)! Dorothy and myself were telling each other that we would not have survived if we had taken the trip. Tinge of envy..

No apologies needed, our good friend divinemoment!
And I certainly agree with the thing about rampant stealing of Intellectual Properties on the web.
A good point that you and ClemC have brought up.
And yes, I am also keen to hear what our good Reservoir88 has to share with us, his professional opinion on this.

I am no specialist in intellectual property law but my non-specialist understanding would be as follows :-

1. Each CS poster is the copyright owner of all things that he/she posted (photos and words) but he/she may impliedly be taken to have consented their use in certain ways e.g. reproduced for the purpose of supporting/illustrating a subsequent post or stored on CS servers.

2. CS also has rights in the compilation, format and presentation of the thread.

3. So the agreement of every poster as well as CS need to be obtained.

4. As far as model release is concerned, it is more of a prudent step to get the model release. Certain countries have laws relating to invasion of privacy (in which case a model release is a must) but not Singapore as far as I am aware. However that does not stop a person who has been used in the photograph to try and establish some sort of right, by an action in Court. The purpose may just be to harass the photographer into some sort of settlement. The model release would enable such attempts to be stopped at an earlier stage.

This is just sharing of my thots on a personal basis and not professional advice.

Interesting interpretations limwhow, we always thought IR photos only came out in black and white. Did not realise you could get colour out of it too.

Reservoir88 - Tango Yakee for sharing your thots (on a personal basis)... a carefully crafted professional reply. :) much appreciated.
