That would really depend on what you intend to do with the images, if you intend to use for work etc, professional usage, get a TS.

If you're using it for personal consumption like keepsakes, travel, yes the 17-40L is sufficient.

If you're thinking of doing perspective distortion correction after using non-TS glass, forget it.
