IMHO,

white earphones sponge is a nice magnet for yellow earwax. Guess that's why most earphone sponge dun come in white? U wun want the person next to u to see all that crap would u? :P

Hee hee..... :D

Thats true and apple is selling white ones i think. But i din buy la. Prefer the normal black ones. White stuffs will turn yellow over time.

OT:

Btw where's the best place (cheapest ... heh) to get Sony Headphones? I'm planning to get either the MDR-EX81SL or the MDR-NX1 to replace by 2 year old MDR-EX71 ...

TIA! ;)

I dunno if its the cheapest but you can try the Sony store at SLS. I forgot the shop name and i think its on level 2 or 3. Their prices are good.

get AKG K26P. seriously this headphone gives the best sound quality for d price below $100. n hardly any noise can come in. juz that when u wear too long, your ear might feel pressed.

Why not do a informal MO for the MX500 if many ppl interested? ;p

Do you have or know anything about the AKG K14P? Is it good? It looks good but i dunno how much is it.

Anyone?

No it doesn't shut out external noise and it leaks sound.

Passive noise cancel phones are the Sony EX51/71/81, Panasonic RP-HJE50 and Audio Technica ATH-CK5. These are avaliable in SG.

If you want active noice cancelling head/earphones, you can try the Sennheiser, Audio Technica or Sony websites for more info. These are costly.

looking at the specs, i suppose its quite a good choice fr a contender of mx500 the only way you can tell d diff is by testing both earphones on your player. i remember audio-technica has a series of good earphones too. my best recommendation for shop would b the shop on the 3rd lv in front of the escalator. u wont miss it cos its full with headphones. :bsmilie:

Sennheiser's PX250 is a good choice for active noise cancelling. if you have some money to spend, go for BOSE. showroom in Plaza Sing.

n btw, k26p frm akg is good in reducing unwanted bg noise. i could only hear a very slight bg noise when i was in MRT. can negate with louder volume.

Actually, i own several earphones already. Its just that i want something different like a white MX500 or AKG. (My 1st from this brand) Audio Technica's ATH-CM7 is kinda ex. At almost $200, its priced out of my budget for a pair of earphones.

I'm also looking at the Senn PX100 or 200. Considering la. :bsmilie: I know that shop, been there. Hung Bros rite?

eh.. yah. hung bros. if u are looking at px, i really muz say that u'd b better off spending 99.90 for the akg k26p or $76 for k24p (i think that was the price fr k24p.. correct me if im wrong ;p). the sound quality of px200 is bested by akg k26p fr d same price. i haf both. but my older px200 died on me. its cable is loose for the left side. so sad.

Hmmm...between the Sennheiser MX500 and the Panasonic RP-HJE50, which one is better?

MX550 is also on the Sennheiser webbie...any difference?

Ok noted. :) The AKG has shiny metal headband rite? I dun really want something shiny on my head. :bsmilie: I shall consider carefully. Whats up the cable for the px200? Not durable or it died of old age?

Both are different types of earphones. The mx500 is a traditional earbud type and the HJE50 is a canelphone. (Ear plug type) To get optimal sound, you have to wear it like a ear plug. Eg, stuff it into your ears to get a good seal so as to block out outside noise. (Very useful if GF/wife/mother starts nagging at you.)

Sound preference is very subjective. The Panasonic will sound better. About a notch up for bass/midrange/treble but its almost twice the cost of a normal mx500. Not a very fair comparision actually. :bsmilie:

Skip the MX550. You will be better off with a 500. :)

If you discover a white mx500, do let us know by posting here. A few of us are interested. FYI, its gonna cost more than a normal one. If earphones are causing discomfort, it might be too big for your ears. The mx500 isn't very small either. If you want comfort, the canelphones are better.

Hmm.....maybe Hung Bros might agree to a MO.:bsmilie:

afbug, i dunno wats the deal with the cable. but i've been using sennheisser fr 3+ yrs... starting frm 497 that died on me twice (got 2) cos the left channel spoilt. yes, both after abt 6-7mths of using! then i switched to my old px200 which lasted me fr ab 1 1/2 yrs. also left channel spoilt. i wonder y... i used to use a $50 sony clip on earphone. good sound quality but also didnt last very long.

btw, some years ago, when the closed inner ear fontopia type juz came out, i got a chance to try on, courtesy of a fren, and i found that its got a very good sound quality fr an earphone. and it blocks like.. more than 90% of the external noise. but kinda dangerous fr me, sekali i kena langgar by car..

Icic....interesting! Yes the down side for the canelphones is that you cannot really hear outside sounds when your player is playing music. Esp crossing the road, better take one side off. But its good when your GF/wife starts nagging at you. :bsmilie:

going down to hung brothers tmr..
