Sanyo Ni-MH 2500AA Battery!

I went to Heeren last Wednesday with 10 fully charged batteries from a week ago. I was told that I needed to charge it a day or 2 before going down, otherwise the test would not be accurate. I was told that it was normal for rechargeables to discharge after 1 week. I was quite surprised as my other rechargeables (besides Sanyo) seem to hold up quite well. I take that to mean that the new Sanyos would discharge after a week. If that's the case, then I would rather throw away the 10 Sanyos and buy another brand rather than going down to change it again.

sorry to read about what happened to some of you :o ... I will feedback to SANYO accordingly :)

ya me too...i send my 4 sanyo batts for a test on wed(11th jan) and jasmine attended to me. i told her that i was only last week and say will give me a call on thurs(12th). but jasmine DIDNT CALL ME UP TILL NOW!!!! i tried calling on fri(13th) but keep engaging. i even tell jasmine that i'm not free from this week onwards and she say ok. if you say something... make sure you DO it!! now i don't even noe when can i collect my batts! some more they operate during office hrs.

I think sanyo shd send me the 4 batts to me by mail personally. I'm not making things difficult for ppl but i guess sanyo's making things diff for me. hope sanyo customer service is reading this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tell me how to collect my batts if they operate only during office hrs? smmore is until 4.30pm only. :thumbsd: :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

If you have to take leave just to collect the batteries, I think might as well buy a new set.
Sanyo should imprement the post in service or extend their operationg hrs to Saturday .

i went last friday to check 16 batts, took more than half an hour to get it done even though i was the only customer there... :dunno:

wah, pls throw them to me. I don't mind faulty batteries. hee.... anyone wanna give me theirs? :D

relac guys, it's juz only batteries.

The service like that now, must think 1st before bringing my 12pcs down to check..

dun be put off le.... they are nice people but I am not sure why some of you had 'bad' experience. I am dying to find out too. I will address these problems when I meet up with SANYO again

I will keep all of you posted....Cheers!

I think first of all, the battery owner need to be sure about their battery really have short charge retention life, then go and change, as they never issue a official withdraw or exchange for the batteries.

Instead of just hearing what people say and be "KiaSu" just go and change.

This will greatly increase the unnecessary workload of their service staff.

My 8 pieces of batch: 05-01-0A all hold their charge significantly shorter than my 8 2300mah batts.

My digicam takes 4 pieces at a time.
I'll usually charge them all on the same day, and after 7-10 dyas of standby when I pop the batts into my cam, the 2300mah ones show a full batt.
the 2500mah batts show a flat batt.

I'm so very disappointed!!:thumbsd:

As for Sanyo Energy's office at heeren, I called them up and they asked me to email to them to arrange for someone to attend to me..... I'm travelling quite often, and during office hours, it's nearly impossible to find time to go down.... Do they work on weekends... I think not :nono:

How do we test whether the battery has short charge retention life?
Can we do it ourselves? If not, isn't it better to bring to Sanyo to check?

The above post just mentioned that, after a few days or a week, test on your electronic equipment, see whether got enough battery power, or does it significantly last shorter than the fully charge one.
Or you would like to spend a trip instead of doing the testing at comfor home? Is your choice.

Me give up on the Sanyos liao. Now pass on to the kids to use for their toys. My energizers last longer.......

I went down to Sanyo office early this month without emailing or calling.

My 8 batteries (05-01-0A) were freshly charged as told by this thread.

They say have to leave it for 2 days to see the power drop and than they can check. I leave the batteries with them after filling up a form.
I managed to get it all change with in 3 days. Bee Suan is the lady who service me.

I ask her regarding new batches of batteries and she said to wait awile before the new batch will be out.

The new batteries really seems different. Batteries hold longer.

Am happy with the new lot.

Actually what's the exact problem with these batteries?

1. Do they lose their charge quickly if left not in use?
2. Is the power insufficient?
3. If used immediately after charge, will they last the same no of shots as compared to a fully functional battery?

So far it seems that the problem is that it cannot hold its charge if left unused. Thanks for any clarification.

Anyway, I have a list of batch numbers (from what I own) that seem to be ok. I did the following as recommended by posters here:
1. Charge to full
2. Leave idle for 2 days
3. Test in pairs using a GPS device

Numbers that seem to be ok:
05-06-0A (4 pieces tested)
05-02-RW (4 pieces tested)
05-01-0A (4 pieces tested)

Disclaimer: I can't guarantee that my test are accurate. :)

I'd like to update you guys on my situation.

I've sent my batteries for testing and have got my replacements. I'd like to point out that one of my batteries in batch 05-01-0A was replaced, along with the other two in batch 04-12-0A. All others were returned.

Went to Sanyo office today and brought 4pcs of fully charged batteries and the email print out. At first their sales manager (Japanese) said my battaries are with 1.3v and are holding charge after one day, but I told him after about 70 shots, the batteries are flat. Finally, he agreed to change. All in all took about 20 mins. not too bad.

I notice when charger indicate fully charge, I use the battery tester to test, it show only 60%.
Do it mean battery got problem?

Hard to say, depend on what battery tester it is. There is a possibility that your charger didn't fully charge the batteries.
Possibly you can use other brand of rechargeable batteries to compare or if you have new set, that would be even better.

use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the batts after full charge and after 2 days.
