Ya, just buy and enjoy photoshooting. Why make ur life difficult by doing testings/comparisons on two similar good performance compact camera?

Simple reason, find the best value for money camera. I'm not rich to buy anything that the website, flyers, promotion say how good it is. I don't listen to just one side story to make my purchase.

You not doing the same thing? you just buy because you think its good without "doing the homework" study?

Lets not argue with such a senseless thing. If it makes you happy so be it. I rather not dwel into such non productive conversion anymore. Kent, post more of photos you taken with EX1 and less refer URL. Show us your work.

For me, I will search what are the top3 or top4 compact cameras recommended by the websites. It's not difficult and you will quickly know they are LX3, EX1, and S90. Then just read 2-3 reviews and the specs about these cameras. I filtered out S90 because it is too small and I don't like the plastic feel of the casing. So only left LX3 and EX1. As mentioned before, they are both good cameras and I have also stated my reasons to buy EX1. The whole process is quick and simple. I've enjoyed shooting photos with my EX1 for two months already. If keep thinking and thinking, I will miss shooting the wonderful moments in my life. With SGD550, it won't burn a big hole in your pocket, will it? Especially if photography is your hobby.....

so good that ur decision process is fast and swif. How i wish i can be like you but hey, like what u say, different ppl have different needs, reasoning, idea and decision power. So shoot more, less of URL and show more of ur work. :bsmilie:

Well, I don't mind exchanging my views with you guys here. I'm not particular with certain compact camera. Maybe few more months later I buy LX5 and play with the Pana accessories came along with it.
Btw hav you ever bought a mid-range or advanced DSLR? How long have you taken to test and decide to buy it?

Okay, sharing some photos taken by EX1 with hand held and without PP:

stay tune to this channel for the up coming comparison.;)

EX1 firmware upgrade to version 6291

Link to Firmware Upgrade

No info (in English) on what this firmware does........... very silly of Samsung

Seems like there is no info on all previous upgrades for that matter?

Just got the camera on Thursday. Ergonomically, it seems great in the hand except that the screen, when folded into the cam, feels slightly shaky. As mentioned, seasoned shooters will have little problems in operating this camera without referring to the manual although most can get a bit confused by the various disabling of the some functions when the camera is in different shooting modes. Startup time is slow compared to other similar class of cameras. That said, the gorgeous swivel screen and the numerous dials and buttons make the camera quite a delight to use.

Following are some pictures I took over the past 2 days. Not in anyway scientific, I tried to keep the pics as stock as possible (no colour enhancement, resize & USM, slight crop and rotation). All jpegs direct from camera.

Colours can be pretty good under the right lighting

3)

One advantage of using the swivel screen - No one noticed me taking the pictures

4)

The blue colour response seems a bit muted for this camera. I remember the sky is as blue as it can be, but not well represented here.

Dynamic range seems at least decent to me. Details are preserved in the shadow areas.

That's all for now...

hee hee hee..... I was expecting a Peterpan skinny-sized guy ...... not a XXL like me LOL !! :bsmilie:

haha .. this is what happen when peterpan grow up and become old :P haha ..

Only resized, both cameras settings like Sharpness, Saturation, Contrast are 0, AWB. Manual mode, jpeg. Tripod mounted, 2sec timer.

Done together with ed9119 & peterpan1975, big thanks to both guys for taking time out to do this little review and letting me use their cameras.

LX3, ISO-400, f5.6, 1/800s, widest end, 16:9

EX1, ISO-400, f5.5, 1/750s, widest end, 4:3 (forgot to change aspect ratio)

Interms of color accuracy, LX3 is more correct (the cyan door, window & iron pickets of the fence), though overall I feel the color is colder in this shot.

LX3 color is also more punchy / vibrant / saturate.
