Guys, good to see lots of EX1 sample photos here... by there way why the macro distance not achieving 1cm distance as shown in Samsung brochure specs? im kind of dissapointing :(

eugene

Not sure where you get the brochure. Maybe you can share it here so that we can verify together. Based on the below link from Samsung website, the macro distance is minimum 5cm.

By the way, how to share/attach the photo in our post?? thks.. :)

anyone can recommend a most decent (best price vs speed value) SDHC card for the EX1?

i just realised the 2 cards i was given with the package are Class 2 Sandisk SDHC cards and the processing times are killing me (i shoot RAW always)

try class 6. It should be faster. go for SCANdisk type.

for your reference:

Speed Class Rating
The Speed Class Rating is the official unit of speed measurement for SD Cards, defined by the SD Association. It is equal to 8 Mbit/s, and it measures the minimum write speeds based on "the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied":[10]

The following are the ratings of some currently available cards:

Class 2: 16 Mbit/s (2 MB/s)
Class 4: 32 Mbit/s (4 MB/s)
Class 6: 48 Mbit/s (6 MB/s)
Class 10: 80 Mbit/s (10 MB/s)
Even though the class ratings are defined by a governing body, like × speed ratings, class speed ratings are quoted by the manufacturers but unverified by any independent evaluation process. In applications that require sustained write throughput, such as video recording, the device may not perform satisfactorily if the SD card's class rating falls below a particular speed. For example, a camcorder that is designed to record to class 6 media may suffer dropouts or corrupted video on slower media.

thank you so much!

btw, has anyone using a Mac successfully been able to read the Samsung RAW .srw files yet? I've had to use my brother's PC all this while and it's pissing me off more than it's inconveniencing him :dunno:

Bought the EX-1 last week for my GF. Both of us are loving it!

Hi to all photography Gurus,
According to dpreview on EX1,pg2 under 'body elements',there is a paragraph stating "There's also a front click dial that's used to adjust shutter speed in Manual and Shutter-priority modes. Clicking it activates exposure compensation adjustment in all modes. Its slightly unconventional positioning can make it awkward to reach."

How come i dun see any difference when i click it in 'M' mode.i've had EX1 for about a month and i have not upgraded the software. Is mine faulty?

Photography Noob

in M mode that dial at front of camera adjusts shutter speed

in A or S modes, it is used to + / - EV values

Thxs alot.duno y dpreview says in all modes

hmmm..... playing with the cam as I type now

in P mode.... its only for changing +/- EV
in A mode .... its only for changing +/- EV
in S mode ....its for changing +/- EV AND shutter speed when you press down on the dial to switch between one or the other
in M mode ....its for changing +/- EV AND shutter speed when you press down on the dial to switch between one or the other

Where got keep dropping? It's still around 550 but with more freebies only. It's common for every camera indeed. Is there any compact camera that its price will keep climbing? :dunno:

i think we are saying the same thing brother.... just that i did not try it on Dual and Video mode............the Samsung user guide is a bad joke

in P mode.... I haven't tried this mode yet
in A mode .... scroll left/right to change shutter speed, press down the dial to change EV
in S mode ....scroll left/right to change shutter speed, press down the dial to change EV
in M mode ....only scroll left/right to change shutter speed, the EV is adjusted by the camera itself according to the shutter speed

The best effect is achieved via M mode. So I only use M mode to shoot photos all along.
