[Sam]'s Japan trip (Kobe/Miyajima/Hiroshima/Osaka/Takayama/Kyoto)

Hi madmartian,
Thx.

I like your shots of Mt Fuji (esp your #14).

I agree that there's too many nice places in Japan to see. I will be heading Japan again in Nov, but hasn't decide which areas to explore this time.

Thank you sam. Glad you like the shots ;)

Yea, so many nice places but so little time. Well, hope that you'll get to see & shoot more on your next trip

So did you bring geiger counter along when you reached. Can't believe the radiation here cleared up so fast.

Nice series bro . Japan is such a wonderful place :)

Nice photos collection. May I ask which lens are u using while in Japan? I'm thinking to carry 17-50, f2.8 .. seems like most of your shots are walkabout shots ah :)

I used Nikon D700 + 24-70mm f2.8 for most of the time, but I also brought along my Panasonic Lumix LX5 as well.

I'd recommend JR Japan Rail Pass, which is available for use nationwide, and it is available for use on board the normal Shinkansen (well, except the fastest range of "Nozomi" Shinkansen). Shinkansen = Bullet train.

There's other JR Passes like JR Hokkaido Pass which is only available for use within Hokkaido....and etc...but some other types of region rail passes don't allow rides on any type of Shinkansen. So you have to read the descriptions carefully before you buy.
Unless you are only planning on travelling around a particular region in Japan, otherwise, getting the main JR Japan Rail pass is the safest bet to get.

thanks for the advice, appreciate it.
after hearing your explanation, think i'll go with the JR Japan Rail Pass.

btw, which hotel did u put up?
